Update your software
To update your BlackBerry Tour 9630 smartphone over the air:
1. Press the Application button to get to the Main Menu
2. Select Options (wrench icon) > Advanced Options > Wireless Upgrade
3. Select Check for Upgrades
4. Select the 5.0 wireless BlackBerry Device Software upgrade package
5. Click Next > Start Download > Upgrade Now
* Note: To schedule a time to install the BlackBerry Device Software, click Schedule Upgrade
6. Click Upgrade Now again
* Warning: You will be unable to use your BlackBerry Tour or make emergency calls for up to 2
hours during the installation process
7. When the update is done, your phone will reboot and refresh with the latest update
To update your BlackBerry Tour 9630 smartphone through your computer:
1. Go to our BlackBerry Tour 9630 download page
2. Find the software version you need and click More Details
3. Scroll to the bottom and select Download
4. A pop-up box will ask you to either Run or Save the download; choose Save and save to your computer
desktop
5. Once the download is saved, double-click the file that was saved to your desktop andwhen the dialog
box appears, click Run
6. Select the appropriate language and click OK
7. Click Next and select the appropriate Country or Region
8. Click Next and select I accept the terms in the license agreement
9. Click Next and the installation process will begin
10. Click Finish
11. Open the BlackBerry Desktop Manager by going to Start > Programs > BlackBerry > Desktop Manager
12. Once the Desktop Manager is open, connect your BlackBerry Tour to your computer using the USB cable and
make sure the Desktop Manager shows Connected in the top left
13. If the Application Updates Available window appears, click Update Now and select the check box for
BlackBerry Device Software 5.0
14. Click Next
15. On the Device Backup screen, choose whether to automatically back up the data on your BlackBerry 9630
or to Not back up the data
* Note: It is recommended that you back up your data before proceeding
16. Click Next
17. Click Finish to begin loading the BlackBerry Desktop Software to your Tour
* Important Note: Do not unplug the phone while the update is loading to your BlackBerry Tour,
which can take approximately 60 to 90 minutes.
18. Click Close when the software is finished loading
Check the version on your phone:
1. From the Main screen, select Options (wrench icon)
2. Select About
3. Software Version will be listed in the format X.X.X.XXX
