It definitely is not an issue with the "first batch" of Rev0 vs. RevA phones.  My original Hero was purchased on Oct 11th.  It was the "HTC" on the back phone with the Rev 0 display bug.  A very good friend of mine purchased his at the same time, same model.   I switched to the Moment for a couple of weeks, and went back to the Hero.  My Hero is the newer "Google" on the back phone, that displays Rev A.

I believe your problem is related to a wifi bug in the 2.6.27 linux kernel that HTC used.  The problem has been fixed in subsequent kernel versions, unfortunately without rooting your phone so that you can push a minor configuration to the kernel, there is no real "fix" for this at the moment.   This affects many Linksys routers, as well as a few other brands.  (Not the router manufacturer's fault)   Try

Does anyone know how to delete pdf files that are downloaded onto the phone. I can find on where to view them from bu am unable to figure out how to delete them.   Also if you download an attachment from an email, like a photo, how do you delete that photo? Validated what Sarah said, the only documented process to hard reset this phone is with a program only Sprint techs posess.  No idea why this is, hoping the community figures out a way around it - as ability to hard reset is a must for power users.  Maybe a Samsung thing?   On my touchpro - i probably averaged one hard reset a week as I was a little rom-crazy.

Same problem..  Had an accidental fix though so not all bad news.  I had the taskiller app on screen with the x on it and pushed it not knowing it would kill ALL tasks.  After a few 'oh craps'  everything reloaded and the Sprint TV is working just fine.  Only problem left to fix is to get Fox News for free instead of just the lame stream media stations....

Ok.. so I solved my problem.. Apparently, I had WPA/WEP security and for whatever reason it wouldn't work but as soon as I changed to only WEP or WPA it worked great.  The wireless connection couldn't find my wireless signal until I made the change.  FYI.

When I first got my Samsung moment and connected the usb to my pc, It dind't even recognize it as a storage device.  My phone did however charge through the usb.  I got my pc which is running Windows Vista to install and recognize by Restarting my phone and then plugging the usb in.  If that doesn't work try restarting the phone while the usb is connected.

For me personally, if everything were fixed in the Moment, and it got decent battery life (at least comparable to the Hero) without disabling stuff, I would say Yes, go for it, if the size/weight doesn't matter to you.  I liked the phone as a whole.   In it's current state, though, I would never dream of switching back to the Moment, especially with at least the majority of the bugs taken care of on the Hero.

Thank you for your update. I downloaded an app killer and it helped my battery life issue. The bars are not showing in my house but I make all the calls I like and haven't had a problem. Hey Tired of Sprint, I had the same problem when I had my HTC Touch phone, but when I upgraded to the Palm Pre now all my texts come in on time, along with the voicemails, etc. Tech support couldn't figure out the problem either but they did offer to replace my phone with a reconditioned HTC Touch free of charge. dpgirl,   Yes, I believe that the Pre is warrantied against defects from manufacturing. You can take it to your local sprint store that is authorized for repair work (you can locate the closest one to you from the Sprint website). Wait until you try to delete email from the trash can.  (Can't be done)   As far as your notifications, go into the app setting and select a 'silent' ringtone.  This should solve the annoyance problem.   I don't know what's going to solve the memory problem with emails stacking up in the trash folder with no way to delete them.

Well, I have actually used both devices including a Blackberry Tour. First, the Hero was the fun device with downloading an insane amount of apps from Android Market. I completely agree.  I had a financial situation where I was out of work. I must say this phone is a vast improvement.  My signal bar now shows reception where it should be.  I haven't dropped any call.  Streaming radio up and down the highway to and from work now works great with very few drops of signal.  The call quality is good.  I still like the screen and the apps that are available.  The phone hasn't yet had the problem of entering Airplane mode

This just started the other day (before the update).  I have voicemails, they show in my visvm inbox, it shows the length and time of the message but when I go to listen to them it's complete silence, like theres nothing there.   I have done tests with other phones by leaving messages for myself with no luck.   Anyone else have this issue? know of a fix?   Please help.   Thanks!

Or maybe its because some one before sued because personal information was sent via text message and a copy of it was stored in records. I recently used teh MyBackup app from the market, it backed up and restored all of my contacts, and messages. It says it can do apps as well, but I didn't do those, I wanted to redownload teh ones I use and leave the ones I didn't. bt I would recommend that app to anyone, the free version is only 30 days, and only works on the phone that the backup is created.

Domestic roaming is handled automatically if you don't have it set to Home Only. It should roam onto another carrier if Sprint has an existing roaming agreement with the carrier in that area.   Sprint would not roam on T-Mobile though as domestic roaming is CDMA only.  GSM roaming is only used outside of the U.S.

Worked in Fort Myers Florida as well.   Messaging app sleeps correctly now (which is the only problem I had with my Hero)!    Also noticed that there are now buttons DURING the call to mute the sound or to put the sound on speakerphone.  I have yet to notice any other changes but I haven't played around with it too much either.

I've read some people get used to the Android way of copy and paste and actually prefer it to iPhone. In my opinion, since I have owned a G1, and now a Hero, plus iPod touch, I would say iPhone's is usually more reliably implemented, while Android using a trackball is much more controlled and precise. Alas, yes, the music player sorts songs alphabetically rather than by track number for MP3s.   If you use WMA files instead, it will keep the track number (as part of the title), but you don't get any other metadata (album or artist).

FYI, if you enable WiFi, aGPS will work. Under the setting for Use network location it says "Location determined byWiFi and/or mobile networks". Meaning it should work on WiFi OR mobile network, but for some reason it is requiring the WiFi radio to be enabled to use the mobile network for aGPS. I DO NOT have ANY settings for a wireless network entered on my device, just enabling WiFi allows the aGPS to function.

The only way that I have found is to hard reset (go back to Factory Settings). I think there might be a way if its rooted to clear the market database, but that could be at the expense of losing app updates. Its a weird thing and I hope Google fixes it soon. I've been trying to solve this problem since I had my G1 on 1.1.

You should give us a call and we will work with you. We follow different protocols for dealing with Premier Customers like yourself and will work things out to suit your needs. I was once in your position and was able to get a discount on my forced change to an Everything plan due to a device upgrade. I've installed the application, and I have performed some brief testing.   So far, it appears to actually answer (even on standby) right at or right after the 2nd ring. When not on standby, it answers even quicker.   I'll test some more and report back. If this is confirmed, it does show that the phone itself is the culprit (which we all have said anyway) not the network.

I use a program called "Movavi Video Suite" and use the built in settings for the ipod.(MP4)   This program will rip a dvd or convert files from another format. They work like a charm.  I've tried other programs but this one seems to produce the best quality vids.

Well, the i580 itself has had PTX since its introduction, at least as far as Moto is concerned (but apparently not Sprint-Nextel, because I can't find PTX in the i580 user guide/manual). This always works for me when installing the new updates for the 598U. I download the update to my desktop instead of the download folder and install from there. I haven't had any problems doing updates when doing in this way. Try it that way and see if it works. C.P. Lucas
