When I first got my Samsung moment and connected the usb to my pc, It dind't even recognize it as a storage device.  My phone did however charge through the usb.  I got my pc which is running Windows Vista to install and recognize by Restarting my phone and then plugging the usb in.  If that doesn't work try restarting the phone while the usb is connected.

I have a samsung rant and a couple of days ago the time started showing an hour late. It still does. Its messing up appointments and alarms. For me personally, if everything were fixed in the Moment, and it got decent battery life (at least comparable to the Hero) without disabling stuff, I would say Yes, go for it, if the size/weight doesn't matter to you.  I liked the phone as a whole.   In it's current state, though, I would never dream of switching back to the Moment, especially with at least the majority of the bugs taken care of on the Hero.

My phone just started doing that today. Im not going to have the time to bring it in until after thanksgiving which really ****** me off. The screen will go black when you open the qwerty then it will be to bright to use and if you wait for the back light to shut off and then click a button its normal so if im texting someone i just leave my phone open. Thank you for your update. I downloaded an app killer and it helped my battery life issue. The bars are not showing in my house but I make all the calls I like and haven't had a problem. It appears that the gauges on the moment aren't truly correct for the battery and strength for my phone but it is still doing everything I need it to do, so I'm happy with it.

Hey Tired of Sprint, I had the same problem when I had my HTC Touch phone, but when I upgraded to the Palm Pre now all my texts come in on time, along with the voicemails, etc. Tech support couldn't figure out the problem either but they did offer to replace my phone with a reconditioned HTC Touch free of charge. Been with Sprint since 2003 and they have been great, always very helpful.

Our chances at apps is dependant on developers.  I've already requested a compass, yes useless, but apps now have more accessibility on this phone using the proximity sensor and accelerometer. dpgirl,   Yes, I believe that the Pre is warrantied against defects from manufacturing. You can take it to your local sprint store that is authorized for repair work (you can locate the closest one to you from the Sprint website). Wait until you try to delete email from the trash can.  (Can't be done)   As far as your notifications, go into the app setting and select a 'silent' ringtone.  This should solve the annoyance problem.   I don't know what's going to solve the memory problem with emails stacking up in the trash folder with no way to delete them.

Well, I have actually used both devices including a Blackberry Tour. First, the Hero was the fun device with downloading an insane amount of apps from Android Market. I completely agree.  I had a financial situation where I was out of work. Got my new phone in on Monday! I recently used teh MyBackup app from the market, it backed up and restored all of my contacts, and messages. It says it can do apps as well, but I didn't do those, I wanted to redownload teh ones I use and leave the ones I didn't. bt I would recommend that app to anyone, the free version is only 30 days, and only works on the phone that the backup is created.

Domestic roaming is handled automatically if you don't have it set to Home Only. It should roam onto another carrier if Sprint has an existing roaming agreement with the carrier in that area.   Sprint would not roam on T-Mobile though as domestic roaming is CDMA only.  GSM roaming is only used outside of the U.S.

I'm experiencing this problem as well. It's quite annoying. The built-in messenger as well as Handcent SMS exhibit this problem. The only way I've gotten SMS to work properly is by using chompSMS. Something fishy is going on here...

I've read some people get used to the Android way of copy and paste and actually prefer it to iPhone. In my opinion, since I have owned a G1, and now a Hero, plus iPod touch, I would say iPhone's is usually more reliably implemented, while Android using a trackball is much more controlled and precise. Alas, yes, the music player sorts songs alphabetically rather than by track number for MP3s.   If you use WMA files instead, it will keep the track number (as part of the title), but you don't get any other metadata (album or artist).

FYI, if you enable WiFi, aGPS will work. Under the setting for Use network location it says "Location determined byWiFi and/or mobile networks". Meaning it should work on WiFi OR mobile network, but for some reason it is requiring the WiFi radio to be enabled to use the mobile network for aGPS. I DO NOT have ANY settings for a wireless network entered on my device, just enabling WiFi allows the aGPS to function.

The only way that I have found is to hard reset (go back to Factory Settings). I think there might be a way if its rooted to clear the market database, but that could be at the expense of losing app updates. Its a weird thing and I hope Google fixes it soon. I've installed the application, and I have performed some brief testing.   So far, it appears to actually answer (even on standby) right at or right after the 2nd ring. This always works for me when installing the new updates for the 598U. I download the update to my desktop instead of the download folder and install from there. I haven't had any problems doing updates when doing in this way. Try it that way and see if it works. C.P. Lucas

My experience:   PandaHome - free - accepts most other themes, and is being readily developed   I personally removed all widgets from my default home screen...then installed panda home.  When pressing the home key, I made panda home the default option.   It starts with 3 panels / screens / whatever.  To add more, you "drag" widgets off the left/right of the screen...BAM, another panel is created.

UPDATE:  I have still been experiencing slow speeds using U300 3g/4g device while in the 4g mode. My tests have been in Aurora , Illinois area. Both indoors and outdoors. Have you tried out Sprint?  If so I'm interested in your experience for the Springfield area.  Most of the issues I listed in this area have been taken care of so I wouldn't worry about coverage around here now.

It could be awhile.  That area looks like it is on the border of Sprint and a Sprint affiliate (iPCS).  If it is iPCS it probably won't be added before Sprint buys iPCS.  If it is Sprint it doesn't look like it will be done in the next several months.  Nextel is the only way to use Sprint in that area for the immediate future.  Sprint does plan to add quite a few towers over the next year so keep checking on it and

i agree. I do love this phone i just wish they would have spent more time testing it and doing some quality assurance before they passed it on to us. Im past my 30 days now so theres no turning back. Yeah, I think that's what's happening. My phone keeps showing it, but whenever I try to surf the web or watch youtube it jumps back to 1X. I forced my phone to only use EVDO and it actually worked quite well... but I've been told that doing that will actually cause me to roam, so I switched it back to hybrid. I think they're almost there.... really, really hoping.

I just got an AWOL today at work because my alarm refused to go off like it has its own life and does what it wants when it pleases. I have been looking to a solution to this problem too. I use a long ringtone for text notifications because I am often in places where I will not here a short ringtone.
