Virgin Mobile is making some changes to the Broadband2Go mobile data service monthly plan.
Beginning today, February 15, 2011, Virgin Mobile will increase the monthly rate on data usage on Broadband2Go by $10 and temporarily restrict speeds.
This change was necessary because Virgin Mobile is committed to continuing to provide the best possible overall customer service. The $40 Unlimited Broadband2Go offer introduced last summer has been overwhelmingly popular. This added to an unprecedented thirst for mobile data that Virgin Mobile and all of the nation’s wireless carriers are seeing more and more.
Existing Virgin Mobile $40 customers have a threshold of 5GB and have been notified about the change. Customers on the $40 plan as of February 14, 2011 may continue on that plan until further notice. [If a $40 customers moves off the $40 plan to the $10 plan, they will not be able to return to $40].
The new $50 monthly plan includes unlimited 3G access without a contract, overage and activation fees. When a customer reaches the threshold of 2.5GB, they may experience slower download speeds until the end of that monthly cycle.
The Broadband2Go $10/100MB offer remains intact along with Virgin Mobile’s special offer for Wal-Mart customers at $20 per month for up to 1GB. Virgin Mobile is taking these steps so we can continue to provide as much flexibility as possible, to remain competitive and provide customers with the best service and value in the marketplace. Customers will still enjoy the ability to easily access email, the Internet, social networking sites and other common applications when they are home or traveling on business or vacation.
Virgin Mobile Broadband2Go customers have access to the nationwide Sprint 3G network reaching more than 266 million people. We also provide device options including a USB stick as well as the innovative MiFi Mobile Hotspot.
