Hi everyone,
Here's an odd one: my wife and I both picked up the Hero from Best Buy today, and we both have the same problem -- the HTC clock widgets all show our time as being 3 hours earlier than it actually is. All of the date/time settings on the phone are okay, and the clock that can be installed as an Android Widget shows the correct information...this problem ONLY affects the HTC clock widgets. Is there anyone else anywhere experiencing something similar, or know how to fix it?
Thanks!

This is turning out to be a common problem. Best advice would be to set your location to a major city in your area.
Tap your clock > Menu > Home Settings > Add city.
Is it a common issue? I searched through the forums but didn't see anything related...can you point me to a thread I missed?
I had done exactly what you suggested already, although I would like to have it working right since I travel frequently to Chicago, which is in another time zone...I would like to have the time update automatically like it should.
Is this working correctly for most people?
I havent had any issues with it, but you are the 3rd person to have this issue that I know of. Which might not sound common, but one of those people does not frequent this forum and we went back and forth with on Gtalk trying to figure it out. Hes timezone was showing 5 hours ahead. One on here was 2 hours behind.
This is really only a work around, as the automatic time (using network provided values) on at least one of those was changing the time incorrectly.
The other was a post about picture mail that drifted off topic.

works great here
i don't live in a "major" city - not far from san diego actually
so, if i had to assign the location to SD... wouldn't be the end of the world
looks like they'll need a patch!
heh!
It could be thats why it works so well. Being so close to SD and all Scorch.

actually its the other way around... san diego is so close to ME
!!
LOL Nice.
I called Sprint about this today, after discovering that the time showed up correctly in other localities while traveling around town (Urbancrest, Columbus, Dublin, Hilliard, Worthington). It appears to only be occuring in my hometown, Grove City. The Sprint rep suggested it might be a network problem and submitted a trouble ticket; in the meantime, he said the only solution was to program in a city as opposed to letting the phone grab the current location. Kind of annoying, but certainly not a big deal.
I was wondering about this. I'm in bexley (fairly close to grove city) and a clock widget I tried to use yesterday was waaay off.
I'm having similar problems. But when I'm at home, my phone jumps between towers in three different towns. One of the towers reports time correctly, and the other two don't. It seems like a network issue, because it always adds the difference between GMT and local time.
So my guess is that the HTC clock widget adds/subtracts from GMT, and some of the towers are sending local time rather than GMT.
I bought mine in Peoria, Arizona at Best Buy.. I had to set my city to Phoenix, Arizona.. which shows the right time.. whenever I go home (8miles away) to Peoria, The phone changes to Peoria, Illinois!! I've looked and there's no Peoria Arizona in the list of cities. So of course the hours are 2 hrs in advanced...
Anyone else in the Peoria area getting the same thing??
My clock is all screwy to. It show Kansas City, but I have it set to my home town of Cincinnati. What is weird is that it started out OK, and would switch on it's own. Monroe where I worked, Loveland at home. Then it went changed to "Current city" or something like that. I manually set Cincinnati as my home city, but now it shows Kansas City.
Am I going to have to take this phone back?
Mine was doing the same thing...I live in Santa Fe, TX and it was giving me Santa Fe NM time...hour behind...I just removed the HTC widget and use the android widget..works perfectly...just not as pretty...I also just used the small weather app next to the clock...think I like it better anyway.

Are you sure you are setting it correctly? Kansas City is at the top of the list (run under current) and you might have thought you hit current city and missed? Is that possible?
Try removing it and adding it again.
