So I guess we can assume the music player will never get fixed?

So much for a multi-purpose device that fills several roles reasonably well.

I guess Sprint is assuming that most users will get frustrated and spend money on a new phone if they don't fix the **** they break on the old ones.

What Instinct do you have, I have an M800 and use the music player frequently and have not run into any issues.

Have you taken your phone to the local corporate technician store to see if they can roll back the update or identify the underlying issue? I am on music version 2.2.39 is that the same version you have? (Home, Settings, General, Phone Information)

There's also the chance of replacing the phone. I dont have an issue with the music player either but if it is indeed "broken" then maybe a refurb will solve the problem.

Guys, he's talking about the music limit that came with version 2.2.48 . It's widely discussed on every Instinct forum, and the problem still exist. It limits 8 gig loading capacity to around 5 1/2

It's been confirmed repeatedly that the older music player versions could  read up to 12 gig on a 16 gig card, and there's an unresolved symbols issue associated with some song titles, albums, etc...

That causes problems.  And if they'd give us a decent BROWSER I wouldn't be reduced to using a third party web app to post with a limited 200 character limit. Geez, is anyone going to fix anything?

Re: So I guess we can assume the music player will never get fixed?

goygacon,

I seriously doubt we'll get much out of the Sprint Development Team at this juncture. The browser won't ever be fixed. They've had ample time and opportunity to work with Opera, Bolt, and a few others to fix the issues here. Sprint and its management doesn't care.

The music player I have pretty much accepted as busted. That's why I've loaded what I can to stay under both limits and get what enjoyment I can.

The other issues Sprint has had more than enough time to fix, update, or patch. Not happening.

Dan Hesse and his boys are moving on. For them the Instinct was a success.

Honestly, I want to be surprised and get an MR-8 or a whole new OS that fixes it. But I won't hold my breath. I honestly want a music player update that fixes everything, but I digress. I just hope Dan Hesse doesn't show up in Dallas. I think Instinct customers shoud pull a Russell Crowe and throw their phones.

I think we as Sprint customers need to vote with our wallets. No New Contracts. That's what Instinct users should start telling Sprint. I'm sure Verizon or some other carrier will appreciate our business. That's my battle plan. Yes, it means for me waiting till Feb 5, 2011, but that's just fine. Perhaps if Sprint loses a few million more customers, they'll fire Dan Hesse and get a competent CEO.

I just wish someone would do a video/webcam ambush Sprint's senior management with an Instinct in hand. Show them how it can't browse, how the music player crashes, and how freaking inept this device is. I think a few YouTube video ambushes of Sprint senior staff might get their attention.

Just a thought I had.

Well, us remaining Instinct owners shouldn't concede that Sprint won't continue to improve this phone.

Sarah maybe gave a hint, maybe didn't, that the device team may be working behind the scenes in this comment here

http://community.sprint.com/baw/message/111857#111857

If the device team has resigned to not improving our phone, then perhaps they should hire another team. This product is not finished, Period.

We ALL know this phone hasn't reached it's potential, but they need a team that can fix the problems, and not give it band-aid fixes.

What good will focusing on a completely different product show other owners of other phones when it comes to expectations, if this is the example.

Instinct owners who abandoned this phone for the newest Hero are in for quite a shock if they think that moving away from this problem won't eventually show it's ugly head again on their new savior phone......and it is, slowly but surely....so, knowing what they know about this phone....what do they expect?  HTC to the rescue?  Not likely.....but a meeting is in order with these developers...they've had a year to fix things, and yes, they fixed the problems of rushing a product to the market, as they will with every phone it seems, but you can't stamp a " Done " sticker on it...not yet...I say " get to work. your customers are waiting ".

As a team leader, shift supervisor, and quality control leader in my workplace, I know what my customers want, and that's what my customers get.

Are my expectations any less important?

Sprint should take notes from the folks over at pandora, their app is pretty nice i must say, I would love a music player with that exact format w/ a decent shuffle and album art to boot.

I tell you what, the company i work for definetly wants to know what their customers think and they will do anything to fix it.  Sprint?  Not a chance, this forum was put into place to listen to their customers, what does sprint do?  Create another crappy device to adress all the issues, that doesnt fix the folks who actually had the problem in the first place.  Hello delighting customers 101!  Why do you think sprint continues to shed thousands of customers each year!  WHen was the last time sprint actualy had a positive churn?

Ughhh

To be fair, I'm fairly certain Hesse is not in charge of specific phone issues. So he may not even know about this. Plus, Sprint doesn't make the hardware. I'm just not sure who is responsible for wha, software and hardware wise. But, as far as fixing the phone issue, refer to the MR8 consideration post by me.
