Battery indicator jumping into the red, exiting applications, only to show in the green just a few minutes later...Something to look into for consideration...
Thanks
And here I was thinking I am unique! Mine is doing the same thing! Chalk another one up for the list to be corrected/fixed. Don’t know about anyone else’s, but mine will do this when the battery indicator shows between 60-80%.
Since I have given in to another reset which I plan on having done Fri., I will update everyone to see if the reset corrects this & many other issues.
Thank you sprint for awesome customer service........
Cant wait till all your customers deflect to verizon. Q4 2009 will be interesting to see the customer churn numbers.
Nice to see that your relationship with Palm has really done nothing for them, their stock price is going down the crapper, shares slipped nearly 28%, YIKES.
Not to mention one of the better phones, the HERO went un-announced. HTC had to produce their own commercial, didnt even mention a thing about sprint. The company doesnt even seem to pick up on the projected #2 OS.
I just want to thank you for allowing me to purchase the WORST phone I have ever had.
Mr. Blue,
Thats why I just can't even look at these new phone options. Yes I know keeping the Instinct until 2011 is gonna be a real pain in the rear, however I simply cannot in my judgement justify giving Sprint a new contract based my experiences with the Instinct M800. Yet nothing is being done to progressed this phone. Nothing has been done customer service wise to redress customer service dissatisfaction. Therefore until we start seeing some major updates that truely start fixing what we've requested, it comes down to principle.
No phone fixes, NO NEW CONTRACT. PERIOD!
I can't be anymore blunt than that. I have options with Verizon. I don't even want to go back to AT&T. There are other options too. But maybe it will take Sprint losing more customers and taking million of dollars in losses to be snapped up by a carrier that can do so. I really wish they'd sell Sprint to a company like Verizon. If Verizon would adopt Simply Everything, I think they'd get legions of Sprint customers to switch.
I just hope people see this post and do not renew their contracts. The pain isn't worth the money being spent.
Is there an MR8 in the works?
Can one of you Sprint reps check for us and please let us know?
Thanks in advance
I'm with Goy on this one.
Can we see if an MR 8 is in the works? It would be nice to have one more to really target the fixes that we need. The browser, calculator, email, calender, basic photo editing tools, and screen lock during calls are top priority needs. If MR 8 just fixes those 5 issues, that will be a major improvement.
Improvement's that would be nice would be a better text messaging system with folders for saving, adding text messaging priority, same with MMS texts, upgrades to the facebook app, upgrades to the MySpace app, getting the IM clients upgraded, a stock ticker, improvements to the notes for longer documents, and I'm sure there's more.
However, if Sprint must prioritize...
1. Browser - Absolute priority fix of out of memory, improve the rendering engine, add additional image formats, and allow downloads. Or replace with Opera Mini however, remove the character typing limitations. It would be really nice if Sprint would work closely with Opera to bring Opera Mini 5 up to speed and have Opera Mini 5 completely replace the Obingo Browser
.
2. Email - The problems are on this forum are well documented.
3. Calender - Getting this to work well with other programs and other issues are documented also on this forum.
4. Screen lock - This is another top priority fix. I suggest that the screen lock activate 10 seconds into a call and the screen reactivates with a 3 second hold on the power button.
5. Photo editing - This should be easy enough. Just the basic color balance, brightness, crop, red eye removal, etc.
I also believe the music player fixes must also be a top fix for the Instinct, s30, and the HD. I'd also love to see the music player add the ability to stream podcasts from websites that use Flash players.
I don't think these priority fixes are out of the question or exaggerated. This needs to be the focus of MR-8. Any consideration would be appreciated.
Get a new phone. That's our only real solution. We just have to deal with the fail phone until our next upgrade. I sent I nice long E-mail to Samsung with this discussion linked, but I have little faith in them fixing known issues about the original M800. Why have good product support when you can pedal a new phone?
So I decided to take another stab at the phone issues we're having. I've contacted Samsung, again, and was hung up on or disconnected by the first representative. I then called back and, after being told that I should send in the phone, spoke to the supervisor. I was then transfered to level 2 service where I explained that the music player issue is a problem with ALOT (if not all) Instincts (M800) and that reflashing or replacing the phone will not work. I was then informed to call back in half an hour, at which time I will speak to a level three representative. Hopefully, this representative can operate an Instinct (M800) on their end, recreate the problem, and develop an update. Can you believe the level 1 & 2 reps I spoke with had no clue about this problem!
Update:
I finally spoke to level 3 technical support, and was informed that the ONLY way to get this taken care of was to send off my phone. No chance of attempting to duplicate the issue with an M800 on their end to avoid me loosing my phone for a bit. Not sure if I can do that, at this time. That's as far as I got over the phone.

You should explain to Samsung there is no way they can fix the Sprint Music Store update, that's up to Sprint.
Also inform them that on their own website they set up this lovely little thing called " REVIEWS "
and that maybe they should READ them..
Play stupid if they want to....it's documented on many Instinct forums, their own website, HERE, and where ever else anyone has reached out
for help...calling bogus on this one...they know
I disagree. I've contacted Sprint way too many time and I finally was informed that I had to contact Samsung. This 3rd tier tech rep informed me that Sprint could only troubleshoot or replace. Samsung has been of no help, until today (huge suprise). I actually speadilly got over to a 3rd tier tech rep who grabbed a M800 on his end and verified the problem right there, over the phone (what they should have done in the first place). Thanks to (in my opinion) poor customer service, Sprint and Samsung wasted a lot of their money transfering myself around to do what one tech rep did in less than half an hour. t And to think I've been calling Sprint almost every month since January. Their money wasted, not mine.Bottom line: this tech rep will E-mail the development team in charge of the music player and video recording function, and then E-mail me the result. Will update when I get something.
Moderators,
We've now identified several major issues that are worthy of an MR 8 update? Any word if Sprint is going to fix any of these issues?
1. Obingo browser update to prevent hijacking, security fixes, Out Of Memory Errors, and rendering errors.
2. Calender app bugs.
3. Music player errors, music count errors, etc.
4. Facebook app errors and feature updates.
5. The long asked for screen lock during calls.
6. Email app fixes, updates, and HTML rendering.
I'm sure there's more but these are the top 6. Or will Sprint give Instinct users an extra incentive interms of extra credits to leave the Instinct at renewal?
>:( I'm now VERY upset with Sprint/Samsung and promise I am NEVER purchasing another phone from Samsung EVER! I called back tech support again and after about an hours+, I got a level three tech rep that could find no trace of the previous rep that supposedly emailed the developers about the music player. The new guy I spoke with yesterday essentially said that this is not Samsung's problem, because the Music Player is managed by a vender that Sprint keeps track of. He says I should check with Sprint to get an upgrade. He also said that since my phone is no longer in production, it is considered 'old' and probably won't be updated. He said I should get a different phone. After Sprint 3rd tier techs say to talk to Samsung, Samsung 3rd tier says to contact Sprint. The funniest part is that neither Sprint nor Samsung have a clue that this is a "known problem." Good job morons! After talking with all these different people, I get the feeling that it's 'unreasonable' for me to expect the music player to function properly. Shame on me. Next chance I get, I'm going Android with HTC and not messing with the Instinct FAIL ever again. Idiots. Oh, and Sprint, your support is just as sorry.

@Eph28-9, This was posted on the premier forum yesterday by one of the moderators;
i've checked with our product experts and this is what i've found out:
"We have seen this issue. It has to do with the amount of heap memory that is allocated by Samsung to the Livewire music application. In order to
support multi-tasking/multiple apps running at the same time, the phone only allows each app 6MB of heap memory. What this means is that a
customer cannot load any more songs than the 1334. We are working to correct this issue. It’s a device limitation. However, later in 2010 we will
have devices that will not have this limitation. Don’t want to say too many details, but the newer phones launching later this year will allow
sideloading of many more songs."
I'll keep ya posted if a solution does come up - we are aware of, have the desire to fix it.
Thanks!

Thanks!
Up until that point this quote was probably from someone actually working on the problem. Then, someone from marketing had to step in. let's translate, shall we?
"Stop asking us to fix this phone. Buy one of our new phones and get locked into another two years!!! YAY!!"
"We have a desire to fix it, but I have a desire for millions of dollars and world peace. Let's see which happens first."
On a side note, I was thinking about hacking the phone and using it as a modem. Since sprint doesn't support this, will they terminate my contract? PLEASE????
Thanks Levi. I finally convinced Sprint to give me a new phone. They let me pick ANY new phone I wanted and reimbursed me! That right, I got the HTC Hero for free. I finally got a free phone because Sprint/Samsung has not fixed legitimate problems with their product. The Hero is what the Instinct should have been. Sorry for turning this thread into a music-error log. I should have formulated a new post for the problem. Take care Instinct users. Perhaps you can convince a rep to do the same.
