I got the Hero on Thursday and the weather app was working on the the home screen, but I noticed yesterday it wasn't updating at all unless I went into the app and hit refresh.
I restarted the phone last night and the weather disappeared from the home screen and hasn't returned since. I have turned the phone on and off a few times and even taken the battery out and put it back any.
Any ideas on how to get it back?
Thanks.
Touch the widget on the weather. This will open up the larger weather. Click menu>settings. Is update automatically selected? If it is then try deleting the widget and adding it again.
Also go to menu>setings>location> and see if Use wireless networks and location settings are checked.

Are you by chance using a Task Killer app? There has been much dialog back and forth regarding the use of app/task killers. I personally stopped using mine and my widgets are updating like they should and the phone doesn't seem to be any slower. I do a soft reset daily to help keep it running smooth. Just a thought...
I do have autmatically update checked. The widget isnt on the home screen under the clock (like the default setting), so I had to go into the "All Programs" and click on it. But it won't let me drag it under the clock, just put a shortcut there.
I am not using a task killer. I've only downloaded Handcent SMS to fix the standard messaging glitch and the facebook app.
Thanks.
Are you on wi-fi? I also have an issue where the weather updates when it feels like it. Mine seems to update when I change locations.
Not on wifi, also have changed locations and weather still not displaying under flip clock.
I had the same thing happen last night. I tried restarting a few times. Finally it came up. I am not sure if it uses the "towers" to get your location. It may be a network thing where you are not in a definite location? Anyway if it makes you feel any better you are not alone with this issue.
Good to know...ill see if it updates sometime soon.
Would a hard reset work?
You could try that but you will lose all of your contacts and settings.
I did a hard reset and everything has been fine since. Weather update is still a bit slow, but it is working now.
I didn't lose my contacts because they had been synced with Google.
