The grass will always be greener.......... Those without the SenseUI are rooting and adding it because they cant believe they dont have it. Those with SenseUI are shaking their heads saying this UI is slowing down my upgrade process, so OFF WITH ITS HEAD. I love it. No ones ever happy.

Off with its head PLEASE.  Slide down to unlock is useless and cannot be replaced by anything that works better.  My leg slides it unlocked as I walk and it makes calls or opens apps through my pocket lining.

And slide to answer is just as faulty.  I inadvertently answer the phone when pulling it out of my pocket

Just add a very simple unlock code.  That is what I have, nothing hard to remember, just a swipe in the perpendicular direction from the pull down.  That keeps it from rogue calling people.  I did the same thing for the Instinct.

Actually, Your leg is pressing the menu button, not sliding. Solution? Add a lock code like he said. It's a "feature" of Android to be able to press the menu button to unlock. Like that on all Android phones. Works fine for me but I don't keep my phone in my pocket. Always on my hip.

Tried what? A lock code? There's no way your leg can slide in a pattern you select. Unless there's an Android in your pocket unlocking it.

Or double tap menu while the screen is off > Pattern > Home screen. When you actually do it, it's  not a lot. It's the same thing with the iPhone lock screen, except there's no hardware button to unlock. It's slide, password, homescreen. Some people like privacy. Not sure what else to suggest. I tried lock 2.0, flyscreen, and rotate screen unlock and went back to the normal lock screen. I for one like Sense UI and wouldn't have wanted the Hero if it didn't have it. That's what attracted me to it before it was even confirmed for Sprint.

There's also a lock screen built into Android 2.0 that you slide over to the right. So either way, there will be a lock screen.

I take that back. The normal lock screen disappears when you set a pattern. ( I'm messing around with 2.0 in the SDK.)

Re: Should HTC Drop Sense for Android?

Put the phone screen facing away from your leg. The capacitive screen does not react to pressure, it reacts to touching the body and completing a circuit. Unless  your pocket is conductive, there should be no way for it to unlock if its not making contact with your body.  Simply flipping the phone over so the phone is not touching your leg should fix the issue.

You can test this by taking a piece of cloth over your finger and running it down the phone. If it is thin like a t-shirt a single layer should still allow you to unlock the screen, but a double or tripple layer will make it impossible to interact with the device.

Re: Should HTC Drop Sense for Android?
I know but see for yourself: Try touching the screen through your tshirt - works just fine :/ unfortunately.

Well yes, but if you read my second paragraph I said that a single layer should still allow you to unlock the screen, but a double or tripple layer will make it impossible to interact with the device.

My point being that the thin layer of a pocket is plenty thin to allow your leg to interact with the device, however if you flip the device over so the screen faces away from your leg, it should not be an issue since it is not pressure that activates it, but contact with the body.

Re: Should HTC Drop Sense for Android?

I know Moment doesn't have Sense UI but does the Moment still have this problem?  I hope not.  Does the proximity sensor and accelerometer on the Moment prevent this?  I would think that if you put the phone in your pocket upside down it would disable the screen.  I don't have one so I can't confirm.
