Enable NDIS mode for S720

I would like to enable NDIS mode for our S720 cards but without using the connection manager software. I can install the card fine just using the driver files and the card works just fine as a modem. I have been unable to figure out what the connection manager software does when you check the enable NDIS mode check box. It seems to somehow enable windows to discover new hardware. With the Pantech PC5750 all you need is a registry entry to enable NDIS. I'm hoping there is something similar with these S720 cards. My only other option is to install the software, enable NDIS then uninstall. The card continues to work perfectly without the connection manager software installed. The reason I want to do this is because I have a hundred cards to install and importing a reg or something similar is much easier to automate than installing this connection manager software.

Re: Enable NDIS mode for S720

I had thought NDIS mode was a hardware setting, so once you enable it it will carry over to the next computer...

As I understand it the card shows up to the computer as a USB interface. Attached is the USB root hub, of which one port is always disabled. One of these ports connects to a 'modem', the other to a 'network card'. Enabling NDIS makes it disable the modem one and expose the network one.

Failing that, try watching the program to see exactly what it does. you might use one of those nifty sysinternals utilities and watch what the thing does when you check on NDIS...
DiskMon, realtime disk activity monitor
FileMon, same thing but operates on a filesystem level
RegMon, same thing except for registry...

you can also see the SysInternals home site... lots of very helpful stuff.

If you get it nailed down, post a reply... I'd love to know exactly what it is...
