I went into the Sprint store here today and apparently they are having lots of data issues and dropped calls - because apparently they are putting in the EVDO right now (at least that's what they say). Crossing my fingers.

To add to that, I have noticed on the Sprint coverage maps more areas showing EVDO that were previously 1xrtt.  Now that is the whole nation not just TX but that is a sign that EVDO may just be rolling out to more areas.  I think it may be sinking in that it is going to take a long time to get 4G everywhere 3G is now.  It is taking a lot longer than expected to get some 4G markets rolled out and they are just getting started.  These delays and so forth tend to pile up and compound as projects progress.  Just keep up hope and maybe EVDO will appear and service will get back to normal.

Can't comment on Texas specifically (I don't know the schedule) , but the 3G rollout is definitely still happening. In the past year, almost the entire state of S.C. and big portions of south and middle Georgia have been upgraded to 3G.

Re: 3G phone on a 4G network?

My phone and my wife's phone both showed they were picking up 3g with Sprint today, however, I was never able to connect on it.  Now the the 3g is gone.  Makes we wonder if Sprint is right around the corner from making it happen and they are just working out the kinks.

Re: 3G phone on a 4G network?

It's 1:45am on Wed Dec 16th at 40th and Ave Q here in Lubbock and I have power vision on my phone and it's working!!!  My wife is across town and she said hers is working as well.  Let's hope this isn't another test but the real deal.

As of 12-21-09 we are still getting EVDO.  The Sprint guy I spoke with told me it's on for good and will only be turned off for repairs and to work out the early bugs.
