I have been having the same annoying problem with my HTC Hero.  Each time anyone leaves a voicemail, I immediately get a text message from "9016" stating "Android has sent you a sprint voice message...call 408-970-0000 to listen."  The text message also includes the phone number the caller is from.  I dialed the 408 # from a land line and it asks you to enter the 10 digit phone number that recieved the SMS voice message.  When doing so, it indicates that the system can not be accessed from the phone number I dialed from and asks to access the 408 # from the actual mobile phone the message was sent to.  I don't want to do that.  I've gone online and blocked 9016 twice, and I still get the messages.  Why can this not be fixed?

That's Handcent's fault, not the Hero's. You can ignore those messages by replying to one using Handcent and then blacklisting the number.

You don't get those messages unless you use Handcent.

@TGK Are you using Hancent SMS?

If so, they should have fixed this problem last week. Check "My Downloads" in the Market & see if it tells you "Update Available" on your Handcent app.

They have been updating it quite frequently (every couple of days) so you might want to keep checking for updates.

It was doing the same thing to me but now that I've got the latest version it's not doing it anymore.

What you need to do is enable pop-ups on Handcent for this. Call from a diiferent phone and then leave a voicemail. This will give you the opportunity to actually text back from the pop-up. Text back anything. Then it will be in your text messages that you can access and then you go in and block it from there. It works.

Re: Source (+ fix) for Hero's poor battery life

Resetting to factory defaults worked to get the Awake time down with most other settings at default except changing active sync to manual and turning off the HTC Messages notifications so I don't get double notifys......have only had it up for 1:15 and it was at 62%....good considering I was setting up the active sync, gmail, wallpaper, lock screen pic and moving, removing shortcuts from the home screen..........Thank you "flipz" and community for the great post.

Re: Source (+ fix) for Hero's poor battery life

Havent been in this forum for a week or so, has it been working for everyone now? i ask because i did the fix a few weeks ago and it worked for a few days and then reverted back to awake lock.

Just wondering if people have accepted we need a real fix released, or if people have gotten it to work perfectly. Also any word on this update that sprint is waiting to release having any fix for this issue as well?

Thanks

Same here. This fix worked forr several days and then reverted back and I haven't been able to get it to work again.  Oh well; I guess I'll just need to wait for the update. ( whatever.... whenever...)

Re: Source (+ fix) for Hero's poor battery life

I am going to try to trouble shoot the problem while at work today.

I think that when I got a picture mail, it reverted back to the awake lock.

I am going to reset to factory default then install all the apps one by one and check, then I will get a friend to send me a picture mail.

I'll report back what I find.
