HTC Passion/Dragon is going to be available in the middle of next month for Verizon according to Brighthand.com. Verizon is getting all the good devices lately. I keep waiting for a sign that Sprint is going to get something comparable. I really hope they do. I really like Sprint but if Verizon keeps getting all of the good phone I might have to make a move.

I have the Hero and it is a good device, but it looks like there are going to be a lot of great android phones coming in the first quarter of 2010. I just hope Sprint gets at least one of them, so I don't have to look else where.
I think a lot of people were hoping this phone would go to Sprint.
It's becoming the same old situation, Verizon gets the cool phones and Sprint is left behind. The Hero and the Moment were good starts but in a matter of no time at all Verizon came up with phones that are just ahead. The droid might be an ugly looking thing but it's being sold in a record pace, it had 2.0 first while we're waiting for an update that may never come, a 5mp camera WITH flash, among other features. And now they will have the first android phone with the fastest chip and 1Ghz processor AND a bigger screen. What is Sprint releasing? The Palm Pixi? Please. And there aren't even rumors of a new android phone coming to Sprint anytime soon. You have to admit, the playing field is a little uneven.
I agree with you Serena... the only thing better about Sprint is the monthly bill. On Verizon a family plan with a Blackberry and an Android device, I would have to pay 119.99 plus 29.99 for data on each phone for a total of 179.97 before tax... compared to 129.99 for 1500 minutes and data on Sprint. It is $50 more a month but if I can get the top of the line phones I am going to really have to consider it.
not saying its going to happen but the passion is a cdma phone. so it is likely that sprint could get it. maybe not first but, likely. i mean it's a android version of the hd2, which everyone loves also. and who knows. its just the waiting game. sprint will receive something but when? idk. you cant knock sprint over something we don't have clear info over. sprint already said they were going to launch much more android phones 2010, with windows also and was looking to move to windows mobile 7 asap. but that's on microsoft to get that moving. and other devices. no specific info on what the devices are to look like but i mean you can simply google sprints 2010 line up. and the hd2 is gsm so who knows if they are going to make cdma version. just know that the passion is cdma. i don't see verizon holding the passion exclusive. meaning for them only. its a bigger hero really. and thinner. and there was new info on that the passion is to be thinner the droid and maybe the iphone. remember the droid is almost as thin as the iphone. so thats sweet. and 2.0 im sure is coming. just another waitng game. i mean they havn't fixed it for sense ui yet. so that's why we dont have it. htc said it's sending it out to all heros. droid has it but there hero(eris) dont. so like i said. just making the fixes with sense to have it. but then its on the carrier to lend it to the customers. but c'mon i dont see sprint holding that back. and they just recently sent out a mini firmware update for the hero. just fixed little bugs. better then nothing.
I agree with what you are saying... Sprint will probably get a Version of the Passion/Dragon just like Verison got a version of the Hero. I would just like Sprint to be a little more open with their customers. They don't have to let us know everything, but they could at least hint about somethings. Hinting that Sprint is coming out with an Android device that has a snapdragon processor in the near future would help keep customers from leaving for Verizon.
yea and i know what you mean. just like for the hero they are very late showing commercials for it. its NOV and the phone came out in the beginning of OCT
Keep in mind that one of the reasons that the Verizon is a "catch" as far as phone manufacturers are concerned is that they happen to have a lot more customers and coverage than any of the other carriers, and at least in the case of their "Droid" campaign are willing to spend quite a lot of money on advertising at the moment. That is also why you are paying about $50/month more on Verizon than you are on Sprint.
Also, up until the Droid, Verizon has crippled every phone it has ever released, and then charged the customer to "partially re-enable" those features on their phones. (GPS) and nickle-and-dime the users to death for things like text messaging add-on, app downloads, etc. If Verizon doesn't see enough increase in revenue from the android phones to justify their abandoning these practices, don't think that they won't re-implement them, on new android phones in the future. (Although the current Droid & Eris customers should be contractually safe from them.)
Yes, I'd love to have the coverage, or at least to have the Airrave unit promised to me by customer service (2 weeks ago) show up on my door step this weekend, but I'm personally neither willing to trust Verizon nor pay $600/year extra to them.
Trust in a company is a HUGE issue with me, way more than the monitary issues. (Like if customer service lied about the free AirRave unit they promised me, knowing that my 30 day trial was up in only a week at the time - I'll cancel my contract in a heart-beat, pay the $200 ETF fee, and file a complaint, along with a recording of the customer service conversation I had where they said that if there was a problem with the approval of the AirRave unit I would be contacted by phone within 48-72 hours (plenty of time for me to still cancel my contract within the 30 day period) with my State's Attorney General's office and let them take care of getting even. Besides, I doubt Sprint really wants to f with another State's AG office at the moment, so I'm expecting my unit shortly, plus as of yet i have nary a complaint of any sort with Sprint's customer service, I've found it to be absolutely great. If I find them to also be trustworthy, I'll be switching my daughter over from US Cellular to Sprint just as soon as I get the AirRave unit.)
