Re: Have you heard about Sprint's "Spending Limit Program Change" Fee?

Due to this new charge I a considering filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and the FCC.  I suggest other file suit.  I believe this new charge is a breach of contract.  We did not ask for spending limits and there for we should not be subject to extra charges.  Oh and everyone who has a spending limit does not have bad credit, I had it imposed on me for have no credit.

Dont lose your time. Changing or adding fees change the contract, but that give you 30 days to cancel the service if you want. If you dont cancel withing the 30 days after the changes or fees effective date then you are accepting the fees.

Have you tried calling Sprint and asking them to do a manual review of your payment history to see if you can get spending removed off your account?

Re: Have you heard about Sprint's "Spending Limit Program Change" Fee?

rinoa82...I have to disagree w/ your "simple" explanation and urge for us to join EZ pay just to have the $4.99 fee eliminated. No one seems to have mentioned that Sprint's monthly charges fluctuate and are inconsistent. EZ pay with Sprint is basically sudden death unless you're wealthy and 'got it like that'.

I have an additional line w/ Tmobile. My rate is the same EVERY month...without question. Even the taxes on this line remain the same and subsequent charges are minimal.

If Sprint would tread the same path many of us might be inclined to overlook this new monthly fee that they have imposed on us. Take a look at your Sprint bill closely...there are charges upon charges PLUS a variety of taxes PLUS our monthly recurring rate, and it's NEVER the same.

For those of us on a budget AND with this economy, there is no way we can allow Sprint to arbitrarily dip into our account each month under the above-refeferenced circumstances.

Agree with LekaLeka, I just filed a complaint through BBB. We should let people aware that we are not under force to join Sprint's auto pay program. It doesn't make sense to charge customers for additional $4.99 if customers refuse to join the program. Sprint fails to respect the customers and despite consumer right!!

The charge is not levied against customers who do not sign up for autopay as many of you believe, or are at least posting. The charge is for all Spending Limit customers to offset the increased cost of managing these account types. If you sign up for autopay however the fee is waived since the account requires no more management than other accounts. Spending Limit accounts are more likely to have late payments and are based on credit risk. This is why some accounts have an ASL and others do not, it is based on the credit when the account is opened.

In addition if your account is at least 18 months old and you have good payment history the ASL can be removed from the account, making this entire thing a moot point. Previously there wasn't much reason to worry about having an ASL on the account unless you tended to go overboard with your Digital Lounge purchases and didn't pay attention.

I also think what a lot of people are overlooking is the fact that Sprint just as easily could have implemented the charge across the board without any way to waive the charge. However, since autopay reduces the overhead required to monitor accounts significantly, you can save that money used to manage the account by signing up for autopay.

Re: Have you heard about Sprint's "Spending Limit Program Change" Fee?

Forcing people to use autopay is bad business.  I do not have to be told how to manage my own money.  I usually pay my bill way before the due date and never come anywhere near my $150 spending limit.  I do not buy ringtones, games ect.  I did not choose this spending limit so should not have this fee forced upon me.  How can I be a credit risk since I have "no credit", when I signed up.   Oh and waiting 18 months, you must be crazy,  because the mean time I am still be charged this outrages fee.  Why not only impose this fee to those who are late or go over there spending limit.

I STILL URGE EVERYONE TO FILE A COMPLAINT WITH THE BBB AND THE FCC!!!

I agree 100000000%. This is crazy. You pay your bill and now they want to charge you $4.99 to pay your bill. So we are now paying them twice once to pay for the usage of our phone service and then we pay them for paying our bill. There have to be a law against this, I have been with sprint for almost 5 yrs and this has to be the one thing that has put me over the edge. This is another way for them to make more money off of us. I think it is time to look for another cell phone company.

Re: Have you heard about Sprint's "Spending Limit Program Change" Fee?

I cancelled yesterday.

I will port my Sprint # to Tmobile. I have up until the end of my current billing cycle to do so.

And, fyi, I am not a NEWBIE!!! I have been a Sprint customer since the early 90's and I have gone through ALL the waves and ridiculous charges they have put on my bill. I've also gone through a couple of class action law suits with them (one being a boo-boo they made with the Equipment Replacement Program). Anyway, it is quite understandable that as a company Sprint can impose any fee they want (until the FCC catches up with them...AGAIN . But as a consumer, I have the right to take my business elsewhere, so that's what I'm doing.

Hey,guys , the Sprint CAN change or ADD fees. If they do that,  that give you the right to cancel the service within 30 days of the  effective date (tomorrow is the last day). You dont agree with the  charge, then cancel the service.

Re: Have you heard about Sprint's "Spending Limit Program Change" Fee?

Well I am currently on the line with Sprint and so far it seems like they do not care that they may loose me as customer.  I think when I get off with them I will be contacting the BBB and the FCC.   Sprint has chosen to discriminated against their customers and don't care how they treat them.  If you plan to cancel then I recommend that you should still file a complaint with the BBB and FCC, both.  I customers we should not take these petty charges lying down.  They should not force us to go on auto pay or wait 18 months. Well just found out they can recheck your credit to see if they can take you off your spending limit.  Either way I am still not happy.  Keep everyone posted.

Sprint is not the only that do this. Tmobile do it with their Flexpay account customers. They chatge 4.99 if the customer dont enroll in auto-pay
