Well, take this for what it's worth. A chat with an ****** at Sprint. According to a "Sprint Specialist" there is no scheduled update to be released. There is so much flaming over at PPCGeeks about this that NO ONE can get a straight answer. And, like anyone is surprised, Sprint doesn't communicate.
Later on in the chat, the "Sprint Specialist" actually sent me to HTC's European support site to download the latest ROM. Wow! Talk about a company that just can't get it together. Let's see, flash a GSM ROM on a CDMA phone equals BRICK! Now THAT'S CUSTOMER SERVICE!

Wait a minute. That sprint chat session says that the most recent ROM version is 1.21.651.4 ![]()
My phone (with hotfix for 2010 SMS applied) is still at version 1.21.651.3 ![]()
The Support page for the device still says version 1.21.651.3 ![]()
I don't know too much about all the numbers in these "versions" and what number we would be expecting to see at 6.5, (obviously, as I was confused earlier...) but why would the Sprint support rep say that it is on 1.21.651.4?
The very page the support specialist referred to lists 1.21.651.3, so who knows where she came up with the .4. Unless she is seeing 6.5 upgrade info and doesn't even know it. ![]()
Sprint wonders why they're in 3rd place. Because of keeping customers in the dark until they abandon ship.
This is the first PPC that I've owned with them, and I've owned a number, that is "supposedly at sometime" getting
an upgrade.
Sprint is third? wow, they suppose to be lower seriously! They have good cover, good prices, the negative will go for bad phone selection and the worst ever customer service.
Still says 'planned update' end of quarter 2010
Yes, that's been there since January. Doesn't mean much if it doesn't show up.
We deserve this update and it is a ***** up. Not trying to insult anybody but Sprint costumer service rates higher than Verizon ATT and Tmobil in all the national surveys. Its their phones that are rated lower in the surveys and that is because all the hype surrounding the other phones. The better systems do not always win. Look at Internet explorer beeting out all the other better browsers.
a piece of advice, genreally if you're writing where the filters are replacing your profanity with **** then you're definitely insulting someone at Sprint.
As for the sentiment, yes, you and everyone else here for over 20 pages have had the same sort of sentiment.
Do you ever feel as though you're yelling at a brick wall? It can take it because it doesn't have ears.
I just spoke to customer service, tech support, and advance tech support, and they all said they dont have a release date for the touch pro 2 yet. Some even said they were working on updates for April. I spoke with serveral people and they have know clue when the update will be available. So im guessing that article was a fake.
Which shows you, the article from January that says 1st quarter is useless.
I contacted HTC at 1-888-******and was advised that there is not a time schedule for the relase of Winodws 6,5 for the Touch pro. The Technician advised that the decison to release the upgrade has to be agreed upon by Sprint, Windows mobile, and HTC. Sprint has to tell both what they want the upgrad to consist of, each organization has to tweak the upgrade to get rid of bugs. the process has to complete before an upgrade can be released. Everyone who wants the upgrade need to now contact HTC (www.htc.com), Windows Mobile (www.windowsmobile.com), and Sprint (www.sprint.com or *2 -talk) and voice your desire to receive the upgrade. HTC regisitered my desire to recieve the upgrade. If enough people make contact and register theire desire to upgrade, the process could gain a priority status.

Just give it up everybody. Google is betting that we'll all buy the Nexus One when it hits Sprint. (HTC is betting we'll buy the Supersonic...)
"Nexus One, the first wireless phone sold through Google’s web store, is planned for Sprint’s 3G Mobile Broadband Network. Sprint will announce pricing and an exact availability date soon".

Direct (official) news release on Sprint's website:
Either way, Nexus One or Supersonic, the TP2 is dead.![]()

That won't work, I'm WM and not going Google, as I'm sure many others are also.
