my palmpre is less than 3 months old and i have never been able to keep a charge for 24 hrs. i make very few calls but do get approx 100 emails per day. wifi is always on but not gps. i have reduced the brightness on screen saver and turn off display after 30 secs.
is this normal to not keep a charge with few phone calls?
No - the Palm Pre really has about a 12 to 14 hour max battery life with data enabled. I've gotten 14-ish hours sitting on the counter on a weekend, with no calls.
Realistically, you charge it twice a day. Palm has a great accessory for that, the Touchstone charging dock. Just set the phone on the Touchstone and it charges via magnetic induction - no cables, wires or fussing. It's sweet!
If you're out and about and away from a charger for hours on end, Mugen Power and SeidoOnline both offer extended life batteries for the phone, along with larger back panels to hold the battery. I have not tested either but I've heard good reports.
Thanks for posting - I've moved your message to the Palm WebOS phones forum; go ahead and browse around and see what some of the other customer tips are for improving the battery life on your Palm Pre!

thanks! it is a bit disappointing that 12-14 hrs is max though.
I went to Egypt a while back, and there is no service out there. While there, I was able to use my wifi at hotspots to get mail and surf the web...but my charge lasted for roughly three days with no recharging. Perhaps it's the frequency of checks for service?
I am especially sensitive to the battery and charging issues as my 1st Pre took a total dump - it bricked. Turned out the charging connections were faulty and Sprint replaced the phone. I have since bought thenew Seidio 2600 mAh extended life battery and battery door.
Nicely designed and only makes the Pre 4mm thicker while vastly extending battery life over the stock 1150mAh battery.
I go for at least a couple of days with hard use.
I have found the forums at PreCentral to be hugely helpful! Lots of smart users with ways to increase functionality you won't believe. Just go to http://www.precentral.net and sign up for free. Most of these users know what they are doing, trust me. My Pre is faster and I have new functionality I did not previously know existed. Frankly, I don't care when 1.4.5 is released. ![]()

Went to the website www.precentral.com and it was just a "face page". Is there another page you meant and not this one?
My bad!
