Sprint Spam Text Messages

I keep getting these SPAM Sprint text messages telling me to go to http://gospv.com etc. Does anyone know how to stop it?

I've tried searching. I've tried contacting support. No one seems to know how to stop it?

I'm seriously starting to loose my patience with this.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Re: Sprint Spam Text Messages

You can block text messages yourself at sprint.com or give tech support a call and we can block it for you. I went to the site you listed and it's an Apache test server that has nothing to do with Sprint. Maybe these messages are coming to you because of some third party application you installed..? In any case, you can block them at sprint.com or give tech support a call and we can block them for you. There is no charge to block these and it won't change your plan or contract date.

Re: Sprint Spam Text Messages

It might still be a Sprint site but when I checked it, nothing was there yet. It was an Apache server page when I checked it. Sprint may own it but they haven't put anything there yet. :)

You don't have to block all text messages. You can block messages from specific numbers/short code addresses. Tech support can do this for you or, if you log into your sptint.com account, you can block them yourself from the settings page. At least, it shows up on the settings page on my account (I am in the new billing system so it might look different for you if you're still in the old system).

Re: Sprint Spam Text Messages

Centinall,

First, thank you for giving us a heads up on this. I have contacted the group that manages our domains and they are investigating this right now.

I wish I had a better explanation, I did gooooogle gospv.com as you recommended. There are a bunch of threads on this for sure. Here is one I found from Sprintusers.com:

http://www.sprintusers.com/forum/archive/index.php/t-103434.html

We are using it to investigate what in the heck is going with this...

Once we get to the source of this it is our intent to bring the spam to an immediate end.

Thanks again for all your help and your patience. I apologize for the inconvenience but we REALLY appreciate you speaking up!

Cheers,

Tony

Re: Sprint Spam Text Messages

Cent,

Thanks for checking back. Our friends in corporate security sent a message back, stating they have contacted a specific group, but are awaiting a response.

I will stay on this until we find an answer. Thanks again for the patience.

Cheers,

Tony

Re: Sprint Spam Text Messages

Another Update...

Appears this is a result of an existing marketing plan. The details are few at this point, however, we did find out that customers can use the following to opt out of these messages:

http://sprint.enpocket.com/optout

Try this for now while we continue on.

Cheers,

Tony

Re: Sprint Spam Text Messages

Centinall,

I am a Data Marketing Manager at Sprint and we have several programs running with text messaging. I see you had listed some of the codes of where the messages came from. Did any of the messages have the title "SprintFreeMsg"? Also, do you still have those messages on your phone? If so, can you share those 4-5 digit codes? I am asking that specific information so I can track down where the messages came from.

I am very sorry if we have sent you unwanted messages. Since you are a satisfied, we would love to keep that way!

Also, please feel free to email me at brian.m.jones@sprint.com or call me at 913-762-5454. If possible, if you do email me at the Sprint address, can you attach your phone number, then I can more quickly find all the messages you have received from us vs. third parties.

Thank you,

Brian Jones
Sprint Corporation

Re: Sprint Spam Text Messages

Actually to block the domains, 10-19 digit number of 4-8 digit short codes you will need to visit your My Sprint Area > My Online Tools > Communication Tools > Block Text Messages. May also be found in Digital Lounge > Messaging > Block Messages

I didn't know to change phone numbers so that I could block domains and short codes from my line on our family plan. There is a Sign off link under the chosen phone line but no option to choose another phone line to block domains. Looks like my line still isn't protected from spammers, just the main line.

Still paying for unwanted TXT messages,

MotoGenius
