I have searched but not found an answer to my question. Is the Network on the Instinct upgradeable from EVDO to say....WIMAX?

No. Wimax requires different towers. Sprint has rolled out an initial test service in Baltimore and will soon add other cities.
They are looking to do a joint venture or merger with ClearWire as that company has already started building Wi-Max capable towers in other parts of the country.

Re: Upgradeable Network?

I live in Amarillo TX and Sprint has launched their 4G network here. But my real question is "Does Sprint ever plan to launch 3G here?" Both AT&T and Verizon have 3G here. The strange thing is on my phone it shows 3G data download but it's slow but I connect 1X so I don't know what to think.

There are already 16 cities with 4G access, and more already announced and on the way by the end of this year, and on into next year.

The Instinct, Instinct s30, and Instinct HD are only 3G devices, no currently released phone in the U.S. is capable of 4G. The only 4G devices are offered through Sprint and Clearwire. Sprint owns a majority stake in Clearwire (51%).

Re: Upgradeable Network?

Thank you for the info. But my real question was does Sprint ever plan on updating their towers to EVO Rev. A in West Texas (Amarillo & Lubbock) for Mobile Broadband service.

Re: Upgradeable Network?

That is an interesting point. You would think 3G would be in between 2G and 4G, not after.

Looks like you should move to Kileen, they have 3G.

Re: Upgradeable Network?

That is the question I have been wondering for months. I have yet to switch to Sprint because there is no EVDO nor any 4g phones to support the existing 4g network. I have emailed customer service several times but no one knows anything. I've heard mixed things from the Sprint store reps - some say it will be here by the end of the year... but they've said that for at least the last three years according to what I've heard.
