Re: Sprint HTC HERO!

Aw, HTC has their little link redirecting now.   'blushing'.  Since this is an Android phone, I wander how long Google will cache the search listing when we know HTC & Sprint are trying to hide it now?  (going on 15 hours right now).

Anyway, I'm with you too troyboytn, but I'm slightly concerned a bit about what 'price' the Hero will sale for since the Instincts are listed at $99 right now (so wrong) and the original iPhone is going for $99 right now too.  But, with all of 'our' excitement about the Hero, I'll bet they gouge U.S. customers even though they are giving the Hero away for 'FREE' under contract in Europe (over there).  I'm 'begging' for a 'FREE' Hero 'over here' too (to coin a phrase).

Also, I believe HTC & Sprint will probably have to 'wait' (maybe Oct11, maybe not as rumored) until the final RTM code for Android version 2.0 is released which supports CDMA since Android 1.5 does not have CDMA support in it from what I have researched.  That is of course unless HTC & Sprint write their own CDMA code into DroidV1.5.  Anyway, I suspect the Sprint offering will be DroidV2 out of the box.

And, since I am one of the original Instinct marketing recipients, I'm going to let any new phone come out, wait for all of the new hands-on owners to chime in, and then decide.  But, since we're refering to a Droid phone, patches/fixes should be quickly addressed on an open source product I would imagine.

Re: Sprint HTC HERO!

Do you know if texting will be easy to get to? I watched a short video of the phone, but then had to leave and thought I would just post to see if you knew about texting. Thanks and it looks pretty cool!!

There are plenty of videos on youtube that show what the Hero can do.  This is the phone I'm upgrading to!!

Samsung M800 INSTINCT50.00

Well, at least the original Instinct is worth $50 when we unload it.  I paid $129 - $50 service credit - $50 buyback = $29 once it has been replaced.

BTW, I've been watching this forum http://androidforums.com/htc-hero/ looking out for any major drama with the European Hero users.  So far, nothing anywhere near like the Instinct's dramatic launch last year.  One issue is after they sync their contacts with the contact's Facebook page the and it downloads the contact's image from Facebook, that the contact's image disappears sometimes for whatever reason.  Also, they are posting some other more interesting tidbits about things that are not in the Hero manual it appears.  One recent tidbit was about a user who found turning the Hero upside down when it receives a call will sometimes apparently make it 'go silent'?  Anyway, like I said, this forum of Hero owners isn't anywhere near as dramatic as the Instinct forums have been which is now going on a year without complete resolution.

I'm curious now if we will see the Sprint press release and pre-sale signup page for a Sprint branded HTC Hero before we get the Instinct MR7 update?  OMG, think about it.  Instinct's life span on the market has only been 14 months, and we are almost at 7 updates.  That's an average of an update every other month and the Instinct still has Samsung branded bugs.

Re: Sprint HTC HERO!

Im excited for this phone as well, I was a little let down by the Touch Pro, windows mobile kinda killed the phone as a whole, but am really hoping the pricing isnt outrageous, considering that its free over seas.

Re: Sprint HTC HERO!

The Hero looks fine BUT I'm waiting for a phone with Snapdragon and a 4" screen and a quality camera. HTC Leo ? Toshiba tg01 ? Samsung HD ? or ??? I have SERO so would hate to leave Sprint but I will if nothing is forthcoming. And why all the secrecy let us know that a phone will be available.
