Hero by HTC

I picked up my Hero on Friday morning and text messaging had been working fine up until yesterday afternoon when I stopped receiving messages.  I could still send them but I wasn't receiving any.

It started working again last night but all the messages people had sent me earlier were lost.  Don't know what's up with that.

I had a similar problem - sprint had to do a hard reset on my phone; it now works just fine.

Please post your PRI, PRL numbers, your "Mobile Network Type" and whether or not your phone says "with Google" or not. Trying to narrow it down to a software version issue as some people have a later PRI and havent had these problems(at least not who have posted there PRI).

I don't think its TaskKiller. I know I havent used TaskKiller and still had the issue. SImply rebooting the phone sometimes fixes the text issues. Some times we have to reset.

To hard reset your phone, Power the phone off. Then Hold the "Home" and "Back" button at the same time and while doing that, briefly press the "End Call/Power" button. It should go to a white screen. Push in the trackball for the first promopt then push the menu button for the second prompt.

Just reset the phone, booting up as we speak...

When I first unboxed my hero at the bb store, that white screen came up, but it had some different options.  The sales team there said they hadn't seen that screen before (on the people before me who'd bought the phone), so they pushed a couple of buttons and away it went.  I don't think they knew what options they were choosing, and now i wonder if THEY might have done something wrong   HOPEFULLY, this hard reset takes care of the texting problem

Yea, they "re-provisioned" my phone the first time too. The issue came back the next morning. I bet your phone says Rev. 0 too instead of Rev A.

I haven't had any problems other than:

     once I couldn't download a picturemail from my sister (Verizon) until I turned off WIFI (the message came through I just couldn't download the picture)

     and once I couldn't send my husband (also a Hero on Sprint) a contact's vcard until I turned off WIFI)

My phone does not say "with Google" on the back and says Rev. 0...I got it from my sprint store on Friday.

But one of the first things I did when I got my phone last Fri was update all the stuff I could find to click update for, including PRL... mine did do an update  and says 60654.

PRI says 1.68_003

settings->about phone->system updates->update PRL

Have same issues here. My buddy sent be 2 texts yesterday and I got the second one. My wife said she sent me a couple from her hero and I didn't receive them.

Text messaging isn't just a cool thing anymore. It is almost as important as making calls.

This needs to be addressed ASAP!!!!!    Has anyone from Sprint here commented about it?
