Phandroid.com reports that HTC has added four new widgets for the Hero in the Android Market and they are available NOW.
http://phandroid.com/2009/12/17/htc-puts-widgets-on-market/
Dice: Tap the dice first, and then simply shake (do not throw!) your phone to “throw” the dice. This widget is only for HTC Hero & Droid Eris
Today in History: In this widget, learn about significant events and famous people who were born or who died on this day in history. Tap a link to view the corresponding article on Wikipedia.
Tip Calculator: You can adjust the tip percentage and the number of people in the group before calculating.
Battery: Tap the widget to see more battery information.
I checked out the Dice and the Battery widget. Dice is more for our amusement than anything else. Battery gives useful info on the staus of the battery. Today in History and Tip Calculator are very nicely done.
I can forgive HTC for making us wait so long for the 2.0 update as long as they keep adding more of these widgets!

The Battery widget rocks! Thanks for the heads up.
I tried the battery widget on my Sprint Hero. The first time I executed it after downloading and installing it abended and caused my phone to reboot. The second time I tried to execute the widget after adding the widget icon to a page, the widget abended and caused my phone to reboot. Third time I tried to execute the widget, it actually seemed to work, and provided some useful information. Many other reviewers have reported the battery widget does not work on the Sprint Hero. So hopefully HTC will fix it soon. Not too good of QA in my opinion from HTC.
*** Further Update ***
Several people are reporting on the phandroid.com link that these widgets do not work at all on the Sprint Hero.
I eventually got the battery widget to work, provides % battery and temperature in Celsius with no way to change to Fahrenheit.
The Tip Calculator is a widget which takes up half the screen which no way to shrink it. Not too bad, but takes up too much space when not in use.
The Dice widget seemed to work OK, but I wonder why the widget needed a full network connection. Not overly useful.
The Today In History widget does take up the entire screen, and recevied a connection failed message. So it did not work.
*** Last Update ***
Personally I do not feel any of them are worth the trouble, but I have decided to keep the battery one around for awhile. It gives detailed battery percentage on the small widget icon down to a single percentage.

But they're OURS! All OURS!
Agreed - they don't seem too great. I like the battery one, but I haven't tried the others.
I also had an issue with the battery widget.. Couldnt get it to work just kept rebooting my phone Weird....
For everyone, remember these are widgets. They cannot be executed by opening them. After installing, you can only execute the widgets by adding the widgets to one of the screens, via the "+" key, then selecting the HTC Widgets.
The battery widget has worked flawlessly for me. No issues whatsoever.
Take a look at how much memory the battery widget uses. The widget was draining my battery.

Mine shows no RAM usage at all.
Ok I reinstalled it. The RAM usage is at 0 but my battery % is going down fast. From the time I opened my applications menu to the time I returned to my home screen it dropped 4%. I wonder how accurate this widget is? If it is anything like the weather on the clock widget then it is not accurate. Now down another 1%.
Hey thanks terryg did just that and it's works great .....

I think that is just how fast the battery actually goes if you watch it by the percentage point. Sad, but probably true. For me it is hard to tell because I roam a bunch on and off at work, so battery gets eaten pretty quickly as it is.
