"Motorola i1 to be equipped with a 5MP camera, Android, MotoBlur"

Yeah, I read that too earlier.  If it had a WiMAX module in it, I'd have been ITCHING to get my hands on it.  And I'd have adopted one of those Everything Data plans in a heartbeat without thinking about it.  However, it only has WiFi.  As such, if it requires me to adopt an Everything Data plan, then Sprint can stick that phone where the sun doesn't shine.  I'm not dumping my rate plan simply because Sprint is too stupid to make a profit unless it FORCES customers into paying higher rate plans that give them LESS service.  Plus, I have unlimited ptt, voice, text, and web.  What more do I need?

Guys, i am SOOOO waiting to see how this `un shakes out!  Just from the pic i`ve seen here i like it, nice big screen, and from what i can tell nice UI too, now there`s just the question of, "Where will i get apps from if i want to have those on my unit, do i use Sprint`s crappy apps selection, or do i get to at least have access to the Droid app store?"  I sure hope they let users get `em from the Droid app market, as Sprint`s selection of apps is...well...for lack of a better word...****.  N9NRA

The easiest work-around to use the i1 and get the apps for free is to simply turn on the WiFi module, and then download the apps when you get a WiFi connection.  After all, wifi is free (allegedly), so it shouldn't cause one to have to incur any download charges.  And that's the argument I'll make if they claim I have to get an Everything Data plan.  I'll simply turn on WiFi and go from there.  Shouldn't end up costing me a dime and I should be able to stay on my current rate plan...simply swap out one ISDN # for another.

And if I get an i1, then I'll be spending a few hours each weekend trying to create some iDEN specific apps as well as general Android apps.  After all, why not share the coolness of my i1 with other Android OS users, right?

I am excited for this phone and the change for iDEN.  I believe this phone will sell well and dispute the idea that iDEN users are not interested in data like services.  I just hope the quality is there.  Gee I never thought I would have said that before 2005.  Android appears to be the platform of the future as well.  Open source app developers hopefully will develop some cool iDEN only stuff.

Wish it had WIMAX, would have really made this phone next-generation.  But then again beggars can't be choosers.

AFDOC i like your thinking, as i too think the I1 will go well, and i really don`t care right now about WIMAX (sure, i`ll want to see it eventually, but i can be patient and wait), i`m just glad to wee a handset that`ll have the stuff i really like, and that`s IDEN voice and PTT, WIFI, and a really nice touch screen and UI.  So given all that, i`ll just be glad to see this unit, and i`ll defenitely snag me one if...the price is right (ode to Bob Barker and his really groovy game show, the only worth it one thay ran on tv ).  N9NRA

I caught a preview page that had the processor listed at  Zeus XScale processor 520 Mhz.  I found a source on the web that followed the phone as it passed through the FCC.

I do not know if I am a smartphone user either.  Just like my low tech phone but it would be nice to have email, browsing, applications, etc.

Um...guys...this phone will REQUIRE an Everything Data plan ($69.99) at least...but the question is...why?  With WiFi on the phone, there is no need for data service.  Furthermore, the data speed on iDEN is slow as a snail (28Kbps max), so why require such a data plan?

I'm sorry, but as cool as the phone is, if I have to give up my Free Incoming plan, forget it.  There's simply no reason for it.  And why when I can simply port my number over to Boost, pay $50/month, and get unlimited EVERYTHING, and still save myself a solid $20 per month?

Sounds like this isn't the right phone for you. However, we currently offer twenty-two phones you can get with our $49.99 Everything Messaging plan. Hope you find one you like! (The link below is filtered for you.)

Hey there, i`m just kinda curious, but has anyone heard anymore about the I1, like when it`ll release and be availible?  I`m getting intrested in getting one once it`s out and i can get it around here, but the I1 hasn`t been heard of much at all lately.  Anyone heard some new news?  Just wondering what is happening with the I1, and where it`s at as far as release date.  Thanx!  N9NRA
