HTC EVO >>> AMOLED<<<

Unfortunately I'm betting that was a mistake. I've seen quite a few mistakes about the specs of devices they have not gotten yet.
For example, Sprints tech specs for the Samsung Moment said the memory was expandable up to 16GB when it is in fact expandable up to 32GB. It's fixed now but for several months during my obsession with the Moment it caused me some confusion.
I'm about 90% certain the HTC Evo will have a TFT display.
Maybe it was supposed to come with Amoled but then they decided to go for the TFT due to production and cost.....Im hoping it does come with amoled, I know it suxs in the daylight but it is just so beautiful when there isnt any sunlight.....hmm....But whichever it comes out with I wouldnt mind, its still a beast of a phone.
That also says it's captive. I guess you have to liberate it first.
yeah i believe dan hesse also confirmed it was capacitive....![]()
In order to help us improve our communication, do you remember where you found that page? The 'now.sprint.com' site only lists a "4.3 inch screen"
Thanks,
Will

It's on the main EVO 4G developer page, right up front.
yup its there i just checked...![]()
okay guys so what does this mean?????
Is this real? or fake?
Could this be some of the surprises???
Thanks - it's an internal miscommunication. We're getting it changed. The phone is a TFT capacitive touchscreen, not 'captive' and not OLED.
Appreciate the pointer!
Will
Glad to hear it isn't being held against it's will, Will ![]()
ahh only if it were AMOLED....well i guess you cant have everything...
.....never the less its still a beast of a phone...cant wait.
I find this very frustrating. The phone is so stacked and yet its taking a step back on this option. Like if it had a 3mp camera with all the other goodies. Maybe its to hit a price point, but like the petition online, I'd gladly pay for the difference is two versions (or just one awesome version) were released.
In nearly all the photo comparisons of the EVO 4G and the Desire, the desire's screen looks brighter and crisper and engadget agreed on this fact:

Don't get me wrong, I love this phone. But to be a killer phone it should have this. The wireless N wifi or other things would be bonus, but the screen on a 4.5" phone that does HD...its gotta be there. Supposedly Apple's next phone will release near this time in June and will have AMOLED.
What can we do to make this happen?

I know how you feel because I feel the same way about the issue. I wish they had amoled...after using my friends samsung moment, I was amazed about the quality of the crisp colors amoled can produce. I PUT A PETITION UP AND WAS TOLD TO TAKE IT DOWN. People here did not want to opt for the Amoled screen. They rather have the TFT because of the sunlight issue they said. But i have a TFT now and the sunlight is still an issue so I don't get it. With the Amoled you can watch true HD videos, but I guess the uneducated do not understand this..
I TRIED...sorry![]()
