They say a picture is worth 1,000 words. That’s a fitting phrase for today’s Sprint App of the Week because it seems there are 1,000 photography apps out there. Probably many more.
We’ll mention a few we like, but please add a comment to this post to share your favorite photography app and how you use it.
As cameras in the mobile phones we carry continue to get better and better, many folks are leaving their point-and-shoot cameras at home. Why not? Your mobile phone is always with you. And after you snap a photo on your phone, it is so much easier to share it on Facebook or another online site.
Everybody can benefit from finding more great apps that make it easier to share photos with friends and family. Many apps also let you add special effects to your pictures, allowing you to produce a masterpiece. Or maybe just a funny photo that will give you and your buddies something to laugh about.
We even have a suggestion appropriate for Halloween. Scary Camera Free for iOS, as Fierce Mobile Content described it, lets you add “a series of photo filters and effects enabling users to transform images of their friends, family or even themselves into scary monsters and super creeps.”
So click away with those mobile phone cameras and let us know what photo apps you like the best.
Scary Camera Free - Create Halloween Spooky & Haunted Photos for iOS By ObjectGraph LLC
Photo Effects Pro for Android by Swiss Codemonkeys
As the developer of this app described it, this app lets you “turn your photos into art with amazing effects!”
PopBooth Photo Booth for iOS By Sincerely Inc.
Fierce Mobile Content had a great description of how PopBooth works. It “snaps four photos in succession, presenting the images in a vertical strip. But the app introduces filter options like "colorz," "1985" and "hipster," as well as social sharing tools enabling users to post their images to Facebook or send them via email, but PopBooth extends beyond the virtual world, giving users the choice to print actual photo strips for delivery via U.S. mail.”
Lightbox - Camera & Gallery for Android by Lightbox
As Gizmodo described it earlier this year, “Lightbox is a stylish camera app that's good enough to replace the stock camera app. Though it doesn't have basic features like zoom or autofocus, it does give you the ability to add 10 trendy filters after your shot. Your artsy photos can be shared via Twitter and Facebook and is easily accessible through Lightbox's website.”
