Compass Intelligence, a decision analytics research and consulting firm, has ranked Sprint’s buyback program as the best in the industry. According to the research, Sprint’s ability to give customers instant in-store credit and offer up to $275 on their trade-in contributed to the win.

“Sprint has the highest-ranked buy back program in the industry according to our research,” said Kneko Burney, founder and chief strategist at Compass Intelligence. “Reasons why it ranks so high is because it’s just easy for customers to trade-in devices in any Sprint-owned or dealer store.  To be able to trade in an old iPhone (or any phone regardless of carrier) and get up to $275 provides a huge cost savings to Sprint customers when making that next cell phone purchase. This is also in line with Sprint's focus on the environment.  I’m not surprised they continue to rank so high on Newsweek's Green Rankings - coming in this year at #3."

Compass Intelligence Blog: "Why Sprint's Buy Back Program is top rated..."

Sprint’s Buyback Program collects old, unwanted wireless phones and aircards regardless of carrier or manufacturer in an effort to responsibly recycle the 135 million cell phones discarded every year (according to the Environmental Protection Agency).

Many of those devices traded-in are eligible for instant credit toward the purchase of a new phone in Sprint Stores or can be applied as an account credit toward a customer’s existing Sprint account.

The buyback credit amount ranges from $50 to as much as $275 depending on the specific carrier and model. You can check eligibility and the trade-in amount at (Prices are subject to change.)

How to participate in Sprint Buyback

It couldn’t be simpler to save on your new device. There are two easy options:

•          Sprint Store: New or existing Sprint customers can visit your local Sprint store to see if your current device qualities for an instant trade-in credit toward a new Sprint phone.

•          Online: Existing customers can check eligibility at There, you can create a Buyback quote and follow the easy instructions to print your pre-paid shipping label and mail your device.

If your phone does not qualify for a credit, you can still recycle it in an environmentally responsible manner thru Sprint Project Connect.

Sprint an environmental leader

Sprint was the first U.S. carrier to buyback competitor phones in store and offer an instant credit. We have partnered with several innovative, eco-friendly companies to reuse and recycle collected devices - to help keep electronic waste from piling up in landfills. The goal and benefit of the Sprint Buyback program is to collect your old, unwanted wireless phones and to properly reuse or recycle the electronic waste - maintaining our environment for future generations.
