There is an operating system update for the BlackBerry® Bold™ 9930 and BlackBerry® Torch™ 9850 smartphones available now that adds Mobile Hotspot capability.


The BlackBerry® OS 7.1 update adds Mobile Hotspot capability, which is an add-on option available for an additional $29.99 per month and supports up to five Wi-Fi® enabled devices simultaneously1. (Pricing excludes taxes and surcharges.)


BlackBerry Internet Services users can manually update the software over the air (OTA):

  1. From the Home screen, select the Options icon
  2. Scroll down and tap Device, then Software Updates


Users can verify the software update is available, as it should show a 7.1 bundle is available.


BlackBerry Enterprise Server customers can receive the BlackBerry 7.1 OS update when their IT administrator pushes it to them.

Sprint recommends users update the software in the evening or when they can be without their smartphone for a period of time.
