The recovery from Hurricane Sandy continues and we are making significant progress in restoring service to our customers.
As of Sunday afternoon, Sprint engineers have fully restored service to customers in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Pennsylvania. Also, our network in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut is now 85 percent operational, but engineers continue to work in portions of New York City, Long Island, Fairfield County, Connecticut, as well as communities in northern and central New Jersey, which were the areas hardest hit by the storm.
As the region’s electric utilities and wireline phone companies come back online, Sprint expects to complete service restoration to customers in these communities.
We announced last week our plans to assist customers impacted by the storm. We are proactively waiving certain fees for Sprint and Nextel customers and extending service and credits to certain Boost Mobile, Virgin Mobile and payLo by Virgin Mobile customers.
To further assist our customers, Sprint has reopened all but 10 of the nearly 200 Sprint retail stores which were closed in advance of the storm’s arrival. Visit our Hurricane Information Center to see what stores are still closed and to find out other important information.
