Sprint is excited to launch the new Samsung Galaxy 4. We had planned to launch this next generation of the award-winning Samsung Galaxy line-up on Saturday, April 27. Unfortunately, due to unexpected inventory challenges from Samsung, we will be slightly delayed with our full product launch. Sprint is one of Samsung’s largest partners and we are working closely with them to launch in all Sprint channels as soon as possible. We expect to make Galaxy S 4 available at www.sprint.com and Telesales (1-800-SPRINT1) as planned on Saturday with Sprint retail stores and other channels receiving devices as inventory becomes available.

We value and honor those who serve and have served our country. Our diverse workforce is comprised of thousands of active, retired or ex-military veterans, their spouses and family members. We take great pride in assisting those who serve or who have served.

We are committed to providing support and programs to assist veterans with their transition to civilian jobs. As part of this ongoing commitment, Sprint is hosting a free transition workshop in Atlanta for veterans who are currently seeking civilian employment. Attendees will have the opportunity to speak with hiring teams about career opportunities and learn more about translating military experience into career opportunities; building resumes, network and personal brand; and developing career paths.

Sprint’s Military Transition Workshop will take place in the Cumberland area of Atlanta on Wednesday, May 15 from 1-5 p.m. Space is limited and registration is required. To register, attendees should email MilitaryRecruitingWorkshop@sprint.com by 5 p.m. on April 30.

Military veterans can also learn more about Sprint’s job openings at www.sprint.jobs, where they will find a section for military veterans and our Military Jobs Transcoder, an online tool created to make it easier for veterans to search for jobs using their military job code and matching them with the optimal civilian job search experience.

Our military recruitment program focuses on hiring veterans, members of the Reserve and National Guard, as well as transitioning active military and their spouses or other family members. We have been widely recognized for our strong commitment to the military. We have received the Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award, the highest recognition given by the U.S. Government to employers for their support of their employees who serve in the National Guard and Reserve. We have also been recognized for eight years as a “Top 50 Military-Friendly Employer” by G.I. Jobs magazine, and named by CivilianJobs.com as one of the 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012 Most Valuable Employers for Military.  In addition, CareerBliss recognized us as the second Happiest Company for U.S. Veterans to work in 2012, Vetrepreneur named us one of the Top 10 Most Veteran Friendly Corporate Supplier diversity programs, and the National Committee of Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve recognized us for going above and beyond the legal requirements for granting leave for military duty by.

Volunteerism is a part of our culture at Sprint. We believe that is our responsibility to give back to the community. Our community-minded employees share this belief and volunteer thousands of hours of their personal time each year.

One great example of our employees’ commitment to give back to their communities is this year’s Martin Luther King Week of Service, a week dedicated to supporting local community efforts in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Employees in more than 20 markets across the nation participated in this traditional week of service. And, they recruited friends and family to volunteer alongside them.

Some employee teams volunteered at local food banks, sorting and gardening while others participated in food drives. Other teams partnered with local community centers and organizations participating in tasks like building homes for low-income families.

From helping organizations change locations to preparing, sorting and packing thousands of meals, our employees were able to make a big difference in many ways throughout the communities where they work and live.

We had a great time with NBA player Al Horford yesterday as he made a few appearances in Atlanta to help us celebrate the ongoing expansion of the Sprint 4G LTE network in the area.

See a slideshow of pictures taken throughout the day.

Al provided real-time updates, powered by the Sprint 4G LTE network, throughout the day via @Al_Horford.

The day tipped off with Horford challenging fans to a game of SPRINT (aka HORSE, but better) at a local recreation center.

From there, he took his game virtual as he played fans in a basketball video game at the GameStop in Lenox Square Mall.

Al’s last stop was at a local Sprint Store where he was joined by NBA Legend and current NBA broadcaster Dennis Scott for an autograph signing.

At Sprint, we emphasize the importance of accessibility for all of our customers and employees.

We are proud to be recognized for our efforts as an honoree at the 2013 Disability Matters Awards Ceremony in Jacksonville, FL on April 16, 2013. Sprint has been awarded the 2013 Disability Matters Marketplace Award for our innovative Sprint Relay ID pack and accessibility-themed Sprint ID packs addressing the needs of customers with visual and cogitative disabilities. These ID packs were developed in partnership with Apps4Android and the U.S. Department of Education. Sprint is the only winner in the 2013 Disability Matters Marketplace category, which recognizes excellence in marketing products and services that meet the needs of the disability community.

The Disability Matters Awards distinguishes companies for delivering innovative accessibility solutions that empower people with disabilities. The awards will be presented during the annual Disability Matters conference, a Springboard Consulting Event. Sprint is one of seven corporations to be honored. Springboard focuses on mainstreaming disability in the workforce, workplace and marketplace. This is Sprint’s first year receiving

DMramplogo_WEB - resized.jpg

this prestigious award.

Data from the Wireless Rehabilitation Engineering Research Center suggests that more than 80 percent of people with disabilities own or have access to a wireless communications device. Using Sprint ID accessibility packs, on Sprint and Boost Mobile USA, allows them to more easily and fully use their devices, often in ways that weren’t previously possible.

“Wireless accessibility solutions like Sprint ID packs represent technology at its best and innovation that matters,” said Sprint CEO Dan Hesse. “With the Sprint Relay ID pack, Sprint became the first carrier to develop multiple applications in a single package to meet the needs of the deaf and hard-of-hearing communities. With the Sprint Accessibility ID packs that followed, we improved the ability for people with visual and cognitive challenges to communicate and access information. We are proud to receive the 2013 Disability Matters Marketplace Award recognizing Sprint’s commitment to people with disabilities.”

As part of our commitment to corporate responsibility, Sprint has long been a leader in the accessibility space and has been the nation’s premier provider of Telecommunications Relay Services (TRS) for the past 22 years. Currently, Sprint is the TRS provider in 30 states and the TRS provider for the federal government as well as for New Zealand.
