Error Message: “Not enough storage space”on the LG Optimus S?

The LG Optimus S comes with 140 MB of internal storage. Many apps and data are stored internally on the device. You can try to move the apps to the memory card, but not all apps can be saved to the memory card. The app has to support this functionality. Also, SMS and MMS messages tend to take up a lot of space. Deleting old messages can improve the available internal memory.

 

To view available storage:

 

  • 1.    From the home screen, press the Menu key.
  • 2.    Tap Settings.
  • 3.    Tap SD card & phone storage.
    Note: The amount of available storage is listed under Internal phone storage.

 

 

 

To view which apps use the most memory:

 

  • 1.    From the home screen, press the Menu key.
  • 2.    Tap Settings.
  • 3.    Tap Applications.
  • 4.    Tap Manage applications.
  • 5.    Press the Menu key.
  • 6.    Tap Sort by size.
    Note: The apps at the top of the list are using the most memory. You can uninstall the apps or clear the data to increase available memory.
  • 7.    Tap the desired app.
  • 8.    Tap Uninstall or Clear data.

 

 

 

To delete all text messages and change the settings:

 

  • 1.    From the home screen, tap Messaging.
  • 2.    Press the Menu key.
  • 3.    Tap Delete threads.
  • 4.    Tap Delete.
  • 5.    Press the Menu key again.
  • 6.    Tap Settings.
  • 7.    Ensure Delete old messages is checked.
  • 8.    Tap Text message limit.
  • 9.    Tap the - (minus) button to decrease the amount and tap Set.
  • 10.  Tap Multimedia message limit.
  • 11.  Tap the - (minus) button to decrease the amount and tap Set.

 

As a last resort, you can perform a master reset. This will return the device to the default factory setting and erase all personal information. Be sure all important information is backed up before performing a master reset.
