there is a way to block texting from the website, actually.
i learned it from this neat little guy i found on the coverage maps page.
pretty sweet guide to using the website to do things.
I believe unlimited text message is US only and does not include Canada.
To be sure, I recommend sending an e-mail to the International CS team by filling out this form - http://sprintworldwide.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/sprintworldwide.cfg/php/enduser/ask.php.
In reference to your Unlimited Text Message Plan on the account, regardless if your are within the Sprint Network if you send that Text Message out to an International Number, you will be charged for that International Text Message. You can add the Unlimited Text Message Plan to the Account for an additional $20.00 per month but the International Messages are not included and will be an additional $0.20 per message.
I hope this was able to shine some light on your question.
Great Day & My Pleasure....
Canada by almost all other carriers is considered "domestic" since it uses the North American Numbering Plan.
Why does Sprint charge "International" rates to send a message there - I mean, I get how governments legally recognize that it is in fact a different country HAHAHAHA, but I dont understand how almost all telecom companies see it as domestic except Sprint.
Secondly, WHY do we even get charged INCOMING INTERNATIONAL message rates at all? Are we to email, or call our friends and ask them to stop? Thats cost prohibitive as well. I dont think incoming texts should be charged to the receiver at all in the case of international. At least include incoming international in our rate plan, or block it completely.
Regardless of whether you're on Sprint or Nextel, text messages sent to and received from CANADA are covered by your plan if it has text messaging included or by a separate messaging plan add-on if you have it (e.g., 300, 1000 or unlimited messages). If you only have a pool of text messages to play with each month, then the messages will come out of that pool. If you go over, you pay $.20 just like for any domestic or international text. Look at these texts just like any other texts you send within the U.S. If you have a plan that includes unlimited messaging, you can send as many texts to Canada as you like.
