They both look to be excellent phones. I went from the EVO 4g to the EVO 3d then to the Eipc touch. Switching for sense to touchwiz was an adjustment but for me the Amoled screen tipped the scale along with the better camera (imo). There will be a lot of reviews comparing the two devices so I would try to gather as much info as possible. You can wait until the 21st and check them out side by side at a Sprint store.
I pre-ordered the Galaxy S3 but on Verizon not Sprint. I got burned 2 years ago when I got the EVO 4G hoping for 4G speeds and it never happened. Paid $10/mo for "enhanced media experience" whatever that is but with Sprint 3G speeds there is nothing "enhanced" about owning a smartphone. I'm not holding my breath for 4G LTE rollout here, so I went with Verizon which already has 4G LTE in my area and the plan I got it identical with what I pay on Sprint because I use under 2GB data per month anyway. I like the design of EVO 4G LTE over S3 but on Sprint 3G speeds it is not worth upgrading to any of the new phones IMO. If you are in a soon to be 4G LTE market it is worth considering EVO 4G LTE or Galaxy S3.
but so far the evo's battery has been doing pretty well for alot of people. not sure why you had the sd card slot added in there...last i checked the evo also has a sd card slot o_0
The SG3 has slightly better specs, plus it has a removable battery and microsd card slot (which made the Evo LTE not even an option for me)
This is the question of the century and I haven't decided either, links below might help. I am an evo 4g user flashed with mikG rom and have no battery or memory problems after doing so. So I'm not sure we need 2GB of ram, but I think there will be more community support (ROMS) for the S3 since the same phone is across all the major carriers. If memory does not play a part (it should not, 2GB is just because US didn't get the quad core chip like international version). Evo has better software, body (aluminium), camera button is nice. HTC has better radios (gps lock, signal) then samsung. S3 will rule the land as far as sales so you will have more neat accessories such as wireless charging. I also like the physical home button to wake the phone instead of using the power button. Right now I use a program called 'no lock' to wake my phone with the volume buttons with no lock screen which helps this issue.
I have both, EVO 4G and Galaxy S2 both phones are great but I’m sure the Galaxy S2 is the better phone simply because before the Galaxy my daughter would not let me use the EVO 4G unless I Bribed her. Now no bribe will work for her to let me use the Galaxy S2 she has stated that the only way I will use it is to get myself the Galaxy S3 than she will gladly give up the S2.
But here’s the thing, I wouldn’t buy gas before I buy a car and likewise with 4G LTE I will not get the device before I get the service. So, I guess since I’m due for an upgrade I will upgrade the EVO G4 to another Galaxy S2 as I must admit I do favor the S2 and maybe by the time sprint actually get 4G LTE if ever, it will be time for upgrades on both phones.
Who knows if by that time Sprint hasn’t rolled out its LTE network I might consider jumping ship after 11 years and go with a carrier that has what I want, 4G LTE and the Samsung Galaxy S3…
Sprint is proud to have been named to The Civic 50, an annual survey of America?s most community-minded companies.
