Why are my pictures taken in low light so dark?

I'm new to Samsung phones, i tried taking a picture with my Samsung Galaxy Note 2 when there was a dim light, i would have thought the flash would have help but it didn't take any good pictures. They came out all dark. What are some suggestions to obtain a better picture if you are in a place that is a dark setting?

first, are you using front or back camera, and I was using my camera just the other day, and while flash was on auto it always came on and the pic were very good. try messing with the settings (and make sure your battery is not to low or the flash will not come on)

    gabs.,

I would also recommend reviewing our dark/light settings on your device.  The brightness on your camera may be turned down.  There are also multiple different effects that you can turn on for your camera, this may be an issue.  I would double check which shooting mode that you are in and if you have any effects turned on.
