Just read an article about Samsung announcing that a "rugged" ie dustproof/waterproof version of the Galaxy S4 with the added tag of "Rugged" is coming in July of this year. Will Sprint get it? Will it only be 16gb? Anyone have any inside information? I'm VERY interested in purchasing it if it does become available! Here's the link to the story:
Thanks for posting. There hasn't been any information or announcement made about this device yet. This would be a great device to add to our line up but I can only speculate at this point. Any announcement about the device will be seen first at: http://sprint.com/newsroom
The Samsung Galaxy S4 Active was just announced today. Any news if Sprint is getting it? And also, any news if there will be any 32/64 gb versions of any Galaxy S4 available in the future? Thanks.
Just watched the hands-on demo of the Galaxy S4 Active and this is exactly what I have been waiting for. Would have liked to see a test of the water resistance but I'll take their word for it considering the rating. I really hope Sprint picks this up -- or another high end waterproof smartphone such as the Sony Xperia Z -- because for me this feature is WORTH SWITCHING CARRIERS OVER. I work on the water and have been through so many insurance claims due to water damage that the insurance carrier dropped me for a year. These are the first devices that I know of which can truly match any other smartphone on the market in terms of performance yet still be sleek, not overly bulky, and totally submersible without a case or coating.
No Information as of yet. Looks like a very cool device though. Any information on this would be at http://newsroom.sprint.com/ . Lets keep our fingers crossed.

There has been a lot of chatter around the office about the Active. I am really not sure what our plans are regarding the 16/32/64GB options. I have asked on behalf of numerous folks and haven't been able to find a good answer. I also wouldn't mind seeing a 32gb s4 but it's ultimately up to my product team.
I am going to keep my eye and ears pealed on any new word about the Active. I'm happy with my Note2 but the Active would be a perfect phone for my wife. I'll make sure to update once I hear some more solidified info.
this is really sad...
one real good phone comes around again and it is of course ATT exclusive. This is iphone story all over?!
Definitely hope Sprint adds this phone to the lineup. Kyocera options are too limited, and there are lots of similar phones AT&T already offers (e.g., Samsung Rugby--rugged, yet slim with small form factor). Hopefully those of you in Sprint with a say on this will listen to your customer base clamoring for these devices--pass the feedback up your chain and broaden your lineup in this area!
You would think that Samsung would have some sort of loyalty to sprint since they were the original carriers of the majority of their new smartphones when this droid/apple battle began. The least they could do is offer the s4 active to sprint before they go and exclusive offer it to at&t. I am sure sprint will carry a rugged phone in the near future because, well they don't really have a choice. The question is when? Do we have to wait an entire generation of phones before we can accidentally drop our phones in the toilet like the rest of the cell phone using world?
