Was Swype installed on the phone in this update, or is it just supported now and to be installed later?
**Please ignore the question, I see that Swype is on the phone. Not sure if it always was but it shows up as an option under settings > language & keyboard

Still have not received the update. Phone still shows running SW Version LS670ZV7 and that it is up to date under"system updates". Is this new update still in the process of being pushed out?
I'm showing that the phone was launched with LS670ZV8, so I'm confused as to why your device is showing 7. There may have been a software push at activation that your phone did not receive. If this is the case, you may not be seeing the update because you're not on version 8. I'm checking into this and will let you know what I learn.
One thing you might try in the interim is to download an application from the Android Market. Sometimes this triggers the Google servers to push new software to your device.
That phone can't be updated. Can you send me a private message with the MEID on your device? This should be listed on the box or under the battery. We want to check it to see what's going on.
Then, take it back to Radio Shack and ask for a different phone and ensure it has LS670ZV8 on it before you leave the store.
Are you sure this cannot be updated? I recently purchased an Optimus S.....it also has the V7 firmware. I got it from a friend in the military who is being deployed and no longer wanted the phone/contract. I have no idea where the device was purchased.

Many people purchase phones specifically for its capabilities. It was proven to me a month after I purchased my phone in the Etown,KY Sprint store employees that they were aware of the software problems with the LG OPTIMUS S, not being able to read SD Cards was a known problem 11/18/2010. Meaning they are selling the phone and not warning the customers of the issue.If the phones are unable to read SD Card then it can't do certain things such as take pictures. As a valued customer and have to pay my money for things I can't do is unfair to me. For I have been complaining about the issue the week after I purchased the phone. My sd card has been switched out four times. I contacted Lg Support who says they aren't aware of the issues of the Lg Optimus not reading SD Cards. I've been calling customer support,I've been visiting the Sprint Stores and Corporate Stores still no one has solved my issues.Now that my thirty days has passed Sprint refuses to switch my phone or anything in that matter.If I'm able to sue them I will because it's beginning to really **** me off.Etown,KY store customer service is terrible from the manager to the employees. LG gave me the option of sending my phone to them in Texas but I will be out of a phone for a while,sprint won't give a temp phone, so am I to send my phone and be phone less. I'm in the Military so I need my phone. I love this phone,I wouldn't be going through all this trouble if I didn't but Sprint itself to **** with them.They should've told me about the problem with the phone and gave me a chance to choose if I wanted to deal with it not make my choice for me. Now I'm suck paying for things I can't use,for something that's been being worked on for two mths now,SURE WAY 2 GO SPRINT...

Yes, it's a known bug and will be fixed soon. However, if it's preventing you from using easily Sprint's best non-4G Android device, then follow the steps in the above post and be done with the glitch.
Also, yeah...cellular sales staff (regardless of carrier) often don't know anything about the products they sell. I was told that the LG Optimus S didn't have a mobile hotspot feature in the Sprint store, and that feature was prominately advertised in the sign above the device.
