I have tried everything!! I have followed every set of instructions that I have found on the internet and still cannot access the home page for my overdrive. I've tried resetting, but I can't even get the overdrive to reset. I have tried being attached the ac adapter, the usb cable, with battery, without battery, http://overdrive, http://overdrive-254, http://overdrive_254, http://overdrive254, https://192.168.0.1, https://192.168.0.35, etc. I've tried over several days, so my computer has been shut down and restarted several times. I just don't know what to do and I have never done a firmware/software update because I cannot access the home page to install the updates!
Please respond ASAP....Thanks in advance!
Sorry to hear about your trouble. Are you able to surf the web with the Overdrive? Not being able to access a router's homepage is usually related to not being connected to the device via wifi. Does your computer show that your connected to the Overdrive? And do you have the Overdrive 801 or Overdrive Pro 802? For the 801 and assuming you ARE connected in your wifi connections, http://overdrive/ OR https://192.168.0.1 . For the 802 Pro, http://overdrivepro123 .
So, if you are connected to wifi, and these URLs are still not working, try shutting down your internet security and/or windows firewall. These addresses may have been inadvertantly denied access by these types of security programs.

Thank you for your reponse. I have the Overdrive 801 and have never had difficulties connecting to wi-fi. I've had up to 4 people surfing the web at once. However, the links still do not work. I have two laptops, my company HP and my personal MAC. I've disabled the security on both and still no luck accessing the links. Here are the messages I get when I tried to access the links.
For http://overdrive/, I get
Did you mean: overdrive.com
We recommend that you try the following:
Ok. Forgive me if this sounds simple, but we want to make sure that you're typing these URLs into the address field and not a search bar. Phrases like, "your search returned no results" and "Did you mean ..." are typical search responses and the admin page is a local page that's not available on the web, technically. With that being said, if you've had mulitple computers or wifi devices connected simultaneously, then it sounds like you're not a novice.
So, there shouldn't be any magic to accessing the admin page. If we're entering the correct address into the URL field, http://overdrive , which is the one I use and haven't had any trouble accessing admin, then you should hard reset the device and start over. We take calls where the hard reset doesn't seem to work or actually reset the device. To know if it was actually reset, the first screen on the Overdrive after a reset is, "Connect your computer's wifi to Overdrive xxxx." If after a reset you see the normal screen when it's connected to a tower with 3G or 4G at the top, a connection timer and KBs transferred, then the device did NOT reset and your issue may persist.
Hard Reset for the Sierra Overdrive ~ With the device on, remove the battery cover, use a ball point pen and press and HOLD the reset button on the back of the device, WHILE WATHCING THE OVERDRIVE's SCREEN AT THE SAME TIME. After about 5-10 seconds, a prompt on the screen will say, "Press the power button to reset the device." Release the reset button and press the power button. You will have only a few seconds to press the power button for a reset.
If you have any trouble at all resetting the device, we may need to take a look at it at a Service and Repair Center. And we do charge $35 now to look at the device IF you DO NOT have our Total Equipment Protection or TEP. With TEP, there is no additional charge.
Hope this Helps.

I'm definitely putting the links in the address bar but when a link doesn't work, my computer automatically does a search. I'll try resetting my device again. I couldn't get it to reset last time I tried. I also talked to my brother who is a Sprint employee and he convinced me to just buy the pro, so I'll be getting that when it comes off of backorder. So, either way, my problem will be resolved soon! I appreciate all of your help. I got this device when it first came out, so I'm sure I'm just a victim of first time bugs!
we have had the overdrive device for several months. for the most part it has been great. but you can not access the homepage, it either directs you to motorcycle insurance or some type of trucking website. I am not a computer guru, but I am familiar with url's and the addresses. it simply can not be accessed.
The http://overdrive or http://192.168.0.1 are both direct links to the overdrive page, if you are coming up with vehicle web sites as results I would suggest verifying you are typing the address in the actual address bar and not a search bar. I have seen some very crafty programs that install addons on to your browser that can disguise the search bar as an address bar but it's not. If you are sure you're using the address bar, try using a different browser program, the most common would be internet explorer so if you're using that one try using Mozilla Firefox or Google chrome. If you're actually connected to the internet using the overdrives connection there should be no reason why you can't access the home page. Try looking at your internet security or protection software to ensure it's not blocking you from accessing it.
Also having trouble with overdrivepro ... it is connected to a Toshiba laptop and a brother printer/fax. As soon as I hook up my Macbookpro to the network, #1 it recognizes and connects to the network for a few minutes, #2- the network goes down, #3 ... the overdrivepro goes to lala land for about two or three hours then comes back on. Is this related to my mac or the overdrivepro?
I'm sorry to hear you're having issues. If you can please clarify a few things so I have a better idea of what area to look at for the issue. The second thing you said is it goes down, do you mean on the overdrive LCD screen it shows not connected to either 3G or 4G? For the third issue you mentioned when you say it goes to lala land are you referring to it turning itself off or does the device stay on and just not show a connection? Also have you power cycled the device by taking the battery out?
Thanks for responding ... to clarify ... the usual response when I connect my Mac is that it recognizes the overdrivepro, then it connects, then the overdrivepro goes down, and the mac does not recognize it as an available network. The unit itself is dark, and does not respond. In this condition it will take several hours before it becomes operational again. I have since learned to take the battery out, and reset the unit, however this does not immediately make the network available again. It can still take some time. Another weird development is that ... if I take the Overdrivepro away from that office location ... it works perfectly fine with my mac. I am online with it right now and have been for the past several hours. Could there be any kind of interference from the Brother printer, and or the Toshiba laptop back in the original location? I have also contacted Sierra Wireless and they suggested trying to clear the encryption setting on the overdrivepro and reintroducing it to the office. I will try that tomorrow or Thursday.
Thanks for any help.
The device turning itself off after it makes the connection is a bit odd, I do know there is a default feature that attempts to save battery power and will make it go into an idle state, but it should be disabled if it's plugged into an AC adapter. So when you initially make the connection and then it goes dormant and after reviving the overdrive you say it doesn't recognize the overdrive any more, have you tried going into your network preferences and deleting the Sierra wireless connection from your connections and then trying to re-connect? It should automatically rebuild the connection in your airport connections. Just curious if you've tried that yet.
As for the possible cause of it only acting up in your office, that could very well be the cause but I can't say for certain with out a little bit of troubleshooting such as the steps Sierra advised you of, just as Sierra suggested make the overdrive an open network and test it out again at the office and let me know what happens.
