Everything is working great on the phone except texting. I can receive them, but nothing will go out. Has anyone else received the code 97? Called customer service and was given some directions for a hard reset (fine, there's nothing on the phone yet anyway), but it didn't help.
Will have to go to the store tomorrow. If they can't fix it, then they better honor the 14 day give-it-back policy.
After I activated the SIII, I incurred the same issue code 97 when sending text messages; everything else worked fine. I was able to fix my issue by unplugging the airRave and router for a few mins, I plugged the router in first and then airRave. So far it seems to have fixed the issue.
Guys. I had the same problem with my s3 when I activated it and with every other phone I get and activate in my house.
It is a problem with the Airrave and is usually fixed by unplugging the Airrave, sending a few texts through regular 3G and then plugging the Airrave back in.
This sometimes occurs if you activate a Sprint device behind an Airave. It's not all the time but it's frequent enough for us to document the process for new activations should be completed while the Airave device is powered off. Once activated an testing good we turn the Airave back on.
Make sure you rerun the over the air activation with the Airave off. You can do this with customer care on the line. If it fails they can talk you through manual activation. Update the profile and prl w/o the airave, test outbound texting and calling and and if everything works you can turn the airave back on.
I had this same problem with my S3 the first night I brought it home, I fixed using the following information I found on the forum:
1) Disconnect power cables from Airave, DSL modem, and router.
2) Disconnect all ethernet, GPS, and phone cables from modem and Airave.
3) Wait 15 minutes.
4) Connect all ethernet, GPS, and phone cables to Airave and modem, but NO power cables yet.
5) Connect power cable to Airave ONLY.
6) Wait 5 minutes.
7) Connected power cables to modem and router.
8) Wait for all Airave and modem lights to go solid green.
9) Power-cycle the S3.
I just spoke to Sprint Airave tech support 866-556-7310.... the tech I spoke to also has Airave and error 97 isssue. He said that Samsung is supposed to be working on a software push to resolve the problem.
So it seems to be either you can make calls with Airave connected or Text with it disconnected. I have no problems with my HTC Evo and Samsung Epic phones...so it does seem to be an S3 issue.
