All of my applications are saving documents and data to my phone storage instead of my storage card. How can I get the apps to save data to the storage card instead? For example, I have saved numerous files from Dropbox, but they all show up on my Phone Storage card instead of my new 32 gb storage card. I check the Dropbox settings, and there is nothing there that allows me to direct the files to my storage card. What good does it do me to have an external storage card if I can't save files there???????
Thanks, but I'm aware that I can't install apps on my card. What I'm asking is how I SAVE DATA to my card. For example, when I save Dropbox as Favorites (which saves them to the device, as opposed to the cloud), it saves the file to the PHONE STORAGE card and NOT to the STORAGE CARD. How do I tell the app to save data to the storage card, as opposed to the phone storage card?? I found one app that does allow this option (Overdrive), but I'm wondering if there is something I can do in Settings for apps that don't give you this option from the app settings.
You would have to see if the option is within the settings for the App itself. Several builtin apps are listed under the following,
If the option isn't available, you would need to contact the developer to see if it can be added.
In the meantime, you would need to use something like ES File Explorer to move it manually.
I have also noticed that when I download music from an installed app it to stores to the phone storage, then I have to do the sync to move from phone to sd card. Im a little confused about the difference between phone and internal storage is. What is the difference? I was under the impression I should store everything to the SD, so in the event my phones breaks, all my music/pics will be saved on the SD card and then moved into the new phone. I have also tried to:
1. Change the destination folder when the music downloads to. But, it still saves to the phone and not the SD card. (sdcard/music_download)
2. Go into settings, go to storage, go to phone storage, and select to move all music saved to phone to SD card. Still nothing. I'm not even sure where it goes. It says to has been moved to my SD card, but when I hook my phone up to my PC, it is no where to be found on my sd card.
3. Go into settings, go to storage, go to app storage locations,...storage card selected for all.
I think I answered your question on the other thread,
but in a nutshell, your music from HTC SYNC Mgr is being stored on the SD Card, just not where you expect. Your music synced with HTC Sync Mgr is being stored at the following root folder,
That's the way I do it.
Another method with iTunes or similar is to create a playlist that consists of the drive size you want (how much you want to put on your SD Card). Then select all and drag to the drive that represents your mounted phone.
Another option is to use Google Music and Google Play, you can tell it to use your iTunes music. This will actually upload all your music to the Google Cloud and you can stream it without using any space on the phone.
