Can I replace my data plan with a NON-Smartphone and not extend my contract

I currently own a Samsung Moment and I am about 60% through my current 2 year contract. The Samsung Moment was an absolute mistake, I am sick of Android and all the fragmentation between devices. The phone is horrible and at the same time, I really don't use my data on my phone (Ipad, and laptop are good enough for me).

I want to buy a cheap NON-smart phone from ebay (assume clean ESN), or anywhere and replace my Moment with that phone. When I do this I want to also Change my plan from my 69$ plan with insurance down to a 39$ Plan with 5$ texting and No Insurance. Is this all possible while NOT extending my contract. I don't want to stay with sprint any longer so buying a flip phone will be cheaper and help me ride out the rest of my miserable contract

Is this possible? I summed up the situation below

What I have:

  • Samsung Moment
  • 40% of a 2 year contract remaining
  • 8$ Insurance on the Phone
  • the 69$ 450 minute, text, data, anytime any mo blah blah plan

What I want:

  • Regular Filp phone (Sanyo Pro 700 for example)
  • My Contract to still be 60% done and still end on the exact same day
  • To NOT extend my contract (this is vital I have come to hate sprint)
  • No Insurance (the phone was 22$ online)
  • 39$ 450 Minute Plan, 5$ texting plan

Thank you for your time and help in reading this. It is truely appreciated.

Shouldn't? It won't!
cskelldog, Yes, You can do exactly what your asking and it will not effect/extend your contract end date or upgrade eligibility.

Our Right Plan Promise gives you the flexibility to change your plan to a currently available Sprint plan at anytime -- without having to extend your service agreement.

Changing phones or plans shouldn't make you renew your contract.

Excellent, Thank you so much for both of your replies. The community is possibly the only reason I will stick with sprint when my contract is up.
