My husband that drives truck for a living would like to suggest that you build a phone that has only these things on them:gps, high quality phone service, texting. He doesnt want anything else in there. It just messes things up.
Would an LG Rumor Reflex work? http://shop.sprint.com/mysprint/shop/phone_details.jsp?prodId=dvc6290011prd&deviceSKUId=62900169&flo...
keep in mind as a truck driver the phone will only work when there is service, i know alot of truckers rely on the phone as a gps but if they drive through an area where there are no sprint towers its not going to work, plus as a truck driver your drop calls may increase than when you are in a more stationary area, because you are traveling and your calls are having to swap from cell tower to cell tower there may be times it doesnt complete the call properly, as much as we want to rely on our cell phones we do have to take these factors into consideration. Coming from a family who has numerous of family members who's job is constantly driving around and its not specefic to one carrier.

I wouldn't be caught dead driving a truck without a dedicated GPS (requires no cellular signal at all). You can buy a decent gamin GPS for about $100.
Just for example purposes (link):
As far as a phone, buy a flip phone (talk and text) from Sprint or anyone else. You'll save boatloads of money on your plan.
Keep it simple.
Not a problem. But just to let you know the Kyocera DuraCore and DuraXT looks to be a good fit. They are rugged, have GPS navigation (requires GPS service plan) and do not have a built in camera. If you do not wise to have internet, it can be blocked.
To view the DuraCore please see. http://shop.sprint.com/mysprint/shop/phone_details.jsp?prodId=dvc6150009prd&deviceSKUId=57900052&ini...
To view the DuraXT please see http://shop.sprint.com/mysprint/shop/phone_details.jsp?prodId=dvc6150019prd&deviceSKUId=61500191&ini...
Both pages will provide a video description of features for each device.

he has the duraXt now. he doesnt like the internet and camera but he has to have some kind of internet to rec texts. he needs the durability but he also needs a good leather holster which we can not get our hands on. he has already broken one of these because he cant get this either.
Thanks for the additional info. In all of the above mentioned city's we are currently upgrading or replacing tower to support our new Network Vision platform. This will improve coverage and network performance, so your husband loosing signal in those areas will lesson dramatically. To see the benefits for Network Vision please visit http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=prEPa7bLDdY. In regards to the case for his Duraxt, have you conducted a search on the web to see about different case options?
