Sprint Product Ambassador: Cables needed for additional features

So, you just got your cool Alcatel ONTOUCH Ride-Fi, and you have activated it. Now you want to activate it in your home so that you can configure your SSID. But you don't want to sit in your garage or drive way to do that, that sounds weird. So what you need is a USB cable to turn this guy on indoors. But when you look at it, the device has a standard USB A port that can be used to power the Ride-Fi. But not any USB cable would do. This design, unfortunately, requires a different kind of cable, a USB Male A to Male A cable to say. This is a cable that has the same Standard Male connector on both ends. Something like this (see image below).

Once you connect this cable to the device, the other side could be connected to a laptop/desktop or any USB charger. Hold the power button for a few seconds and you are good to go. This way you could use this device not only for initial activation/setup, but also as a mobile hot spot. In order to buy one, if you don't have one (most of us won't) here are a few links for research/purchase options purchases. I have not personally bought any of these but both these brands, C2G and Monoprice are reliable in my humble opinion.

C2G / Cables To Go 54171 USB 3.0 A Male to A Male Cable

6ft USB 2.0 A Male to A Male 28/24AWG Cable

The C2G cable option is also USB 3.0 so you could future proof yourself, but it does cost a bit more. All in all, both are decent options.

Enjoy!
