LG G7 ThinQ - NEW shortcut options

LG has always gave users the ability to shortcut to quick applications but those applications were limited.  The only way allowed before was through the home touch buttons. LG has always gave access to add additional buttons to the home touch area. The buttons available were notification, capture+ and Qslide. Qslide is a subset folder with quick links to (Video, Phone, Contact, Calendar, Email, and File manager) it was never able to be modified for your own quick application selection. Now available on LG7 ThinQ is the "Floating Bar" A feature for quick access to custom application options.

The Floating Bar is a feature activated under the general tab in the extensions section.  Once enable you will have the option of a new floating icon appearing on either the right or left side of the screen. This icon when selected opens a floating menu. This menu can be customized to fit your needs. It can be used for quick shortcut to 5 applications (your choice), Accessing your music player choice, Up to 5 quick contacts for text or calling, and finally screen capture options.

The Shortcut option give access to selecting 5 applications. Simply enable the option and select the menu icon (3 horizontal dots) next to the radial slider. Once in the menu you can rearrange the order of the icons or change the shortcut association to a new application. Select the cog wheel next to the application you want to change. You are taken to a new window to select the assignment you want for the shortcut. Simply choose the application and that is it. Do this for each one and you will have a custom shortcut to your favorite applications that can be accessed from any screen or even from within applications.

For the music play simply select the player you want to tie to the shortcut.  When you play music you will be able to control the playback within the floating bar itself.

With Quick Contacts you can create shortcut to either call or text. When enable you will see 5 plus signs in the floating bar waiting for you to add a contact to. Select the plus sign and scroll to the contact of choice to add. When ready to use touch the floating bar and press the contact to call or text. It is that simple.

Finally there is the screen capture option. This allows you quick access to perform a screen capture as a standard screen capture, a GIF, cropped image, or extended capture (scrolling windows for browsers). This will connect back to Capture+ once an image is captured for further review and optional addition of text.

You can activate 1 or all 4 selected menu options. Though when accessing the floating bar it will only show you one menu at a time. To access each additional menu simply swipe right or left within the floating bar once the floating bar is activated for use. The floating bar can be placed on either the right or left side of the screen. You can move it at will or lock it in place. This is a great customization option and I am glad LG has added it to their device. Users now can have the option to create shortcut for pretty much anything on their device from applications to contacts.
