Managing volume? That's simple isn't it? Just swipe down and hit 'vibrate' or 'silence' right? Well, yes, usually, but the Google Pixel 3a handles silent, vibration and sound level just a bit differently. When you swipe down from the top to the quick settings menu, you first notice that there isn't any setting for volume. Sorry, what?
Yup - no volume setting there. So, how do you quickly shut the phone up, put it on vibrate or change the sound profile quickly? There's two neat shortcuts - first, press the power and volume UP button. That shortcut, by default, will set the phone to Vibrate. You can manage that in Settings - Sound - Shortcut to Prevent Ringing and set it to Vibrate, Silence or No Action:
So another quick squeeze shortcut!
If you'd rather manage the volume with the volume keys, that's easy too - when you touch the up or down volume key, a floating panel pops out on the right allowing you to quickly mute, set vibrate, change volume or jump into the sound settings:
