My takeaway? This is a great device for someone wanting an affordable smart phone. The extra features elevate it from  a basic device, and the coolness factor of Moto helps make it hip enough for a younger/first time smartphone user.

As usual, sometimes the best things you can learn about a device though are what others are doing with it.

My peer @rmctryit told us about Moto Apps and Moto Actions, ways to customize your display more: https://community.sprint.com/t5/McTryit/Moto-e4-Moto-Apps/ba-p/969383

I loved learning about the different accessories that one could have with the Moto e4 from @Allizproc  - https://community.sprint.com/t5/Allizproc/All-In-With-the-Moto-e4-amp-Some-Classic-Matching-Accessor....  As my son will most likely inherited this device, he was happy to hear that the ear buds were good.

@OKCRyanis right, the Moto e4 does have a stronger battery life than one would expect: https://community.sprint.com/t5/OKCRyan/Motorola-e4-Totally-Unscientific-Battery-Test/ba-p/968660

And, since I do plan to pass this device onto my son, I am quite happy to know about all of the cases and protection for the device that is available: https://community.sprint.com/t5/krsheets/Moto-E4-Protection/ba-p/968444 - thanks for the great recap @krsheets!

What have you liked best about the Moto e4? Anything else you wanted me to check out?
