The screen resolution on the Z3 Play is 1080 x 2160, which is enough for full high definition. Really, you don't need any more resolution than this. Photos and text is super sharp, and any additional resolution would be wasted and only be taxing on the battery.
Disclaimer: The Product Ambassadors are Sprint employees from many different parts of the company that love technology. They volunteer to test out all sorts of Sprint devices and offer opinions freely to the Community. Each Product Ambassador shares their own opinions of these devices, therefore the information in this post does not necessarily reflect the opinions of Sprint. The PA's do not represent the company in an official way, and should not be expected to respond to Community members in an official capacity. #sprintemployee
It's an OLED screen, or Organic Light Emitting Diode, which means that there is no back-light, but instead, each pixel can turn it self on or off, and at any brightness level for each pixel. You end up with a more colorful display and pure blacks instead of dark grey.
The camera is really swell on this phone, and just as impressive when viewed on this screen. I found reading books in Amazon's Kindle app a pleasure with crisp text and contrast and zero eye strain.
If it's time for a upgrade or to switch to Sprint, visit your local Sprint store and see the screen for yourself. It's an incredible bargain at less than $500, or only $20 month for lease.
