VERY COOL EMERGENCY CALL APP/Google Voice PROTOCOL

Heres what you can do if you usually put your phone on silent so that you can sleep at night, but want to know if your step dad has a heart attack (Just happened to me). So heres the solution without needing a landline, nor needing to leave your phone on all night to bug you while you sleep:

1.Download Auto Ring App from Android Market.

2.Set up a Google Voice number that forwards to your cell phone and disable the caller id feature in google voice settings so that the google voice number shows on ID.

3.Create Emergency Group and add the google voice number to it and make this the group that is "White Listed" or just add google voice number.

4.Set your phone to silent and test it from another phone, calling the google voice number you have setup.

What this does is enables only one number that is EXCLUSIVELY DEVOTED to EMERGENCY CALLS and makes your phone ring out loud only if its really an emergency! The trick is only give this to your closest family and friends because we all know our friends would abuse this is given the chance.

Good idea.  For those using Google Voice regularly, you can create this group and have it ring through at night.  For all other calls, you can have them go straight to voice mail from hours 11pm to 6am, for example.  It seems a little excessive to create a separate number just for emergencies.
