April is Distracted Driving Month. This week at CTIA in Orlando, Sprint CEO Dan Hesse announced that later this year will offer Sprint® Drive FirstTM – the wireless carrier’s first safe-driving solution to help wireless consumers safely manage their mobile devices and focus on driving while they’re behind the wheel.
When driving a car, your first priority should always be driving and ensuring you get to your destination safely. In addition to the Sprint Drive First app which will be available in the third quarter this year, there are many other apps available to help you put your phone down and concentrate on the road.
Vlingo -- the world’s leading provider of intelligent voice applications that turn your words into action, today announced “Vlingo InCar,” a new beta feature for Android users that allows consumers to receive and send text messages without taking their hands off the wheel or their eyes off the road. Vlingo InCar offers users:
Voice driven, hands free initiation using a “wake up word”
Conversational user guidance instead of a touch screen
Ability to send and respond to messages, make calls and get directions using only voice commands
MyAutoReply -- automatically responds to text messages you receive while you are unable to. Customize your own auto response or choose from three generic replies.
Safe Respond -- automatically replies with a personalized message to any text message messages received while active. Safe Respond can even alert you by reading the message aloud. It's perfect for when you're for driving, at the movies, in a meeting, or any other time that you can't reply to a text message!
