Family Locator iPhone issue

Sprint Family Locator subscribers may notice reduced location accuracy when attempting to locate an Apple iPhone. Sprint is actively working on a solution to improve the location accuracy. Parents and/or account owners who subscribe to Sprint Family Locator can still use their Apple iPhone to locate other phones on their account by visiting sprint.com/familylocator and signing in.

Family Locator iPhone issue

There are other apps available.

You can track/locate iPhones from the icloud page - https://www.icloud.com/#

Also there is an app I use called life360 http://www.life360.com/ available in the market, Which I like as it tracks their every move, And I also have Find Friends http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/find-my-friends/id466122094?mt=8 which will locate others with iphones that have the app installed.

The advantage of SFL, however, was that it worked regardless of whether the child decides to delete the tracking app such as Find Friends on the iPhone.

Re: Family Locator iPhone issue

My kids would rather have a phone, even though trackable, than not have one at all, but though icloud works, I have to sign into each account separately, and it doesn't have the automatic notification that sfl has.  I had sfl set to send me an email letting me know they were at school in the morning and at home in the afternoon, and it was convienient because I only had to log in once.  Those two features are worth the extra $5/month to me if they get it working again.  In the mean time I'm getting by with icloud.

Re: Family Locator iPhone issue

My daughter is in school in Akron and we haven't been able to locate her Iphone 4s for over a week.  I talked to support.  They uninstalled and reinstalled her.  I checked with my daughter and she said she was in the sprint network and her gps was working, but we still can't locate her.

They said to take her phone in to sprint, but my daughter feels its not phone issue.  Can someone help.

Re: Family Locator iPhone issue

These are the directions I followed to set up icloud on the phone:

http://www.apple.com/icloud/setup/

And now I can log into www.icloud.com using the same id and password they entered on their phone, and click the "find my iphone" icon.   It shows two phones  on the top left corner of the map under the heading "My Devices", and only one of them says "found" and the other says "offline" .  I think at some point I had to click the one that says "Found" and now it always goes to that by default.

Thats all I know about the iphone, hope it helps.

Re: Family Locator iPhone issue

I don't know anything about the Icloud, but found a thread on line that suggested we turn off the tracking services on the Iphone, wait a few secs and then turn it back on.  This worked.  Sprint was not helpful.

Re: Family Locator iPhone issue

If you have an Apple operating system device you can use the app Find My iPhone and it is very accurate and free.
