You would need to purchase a device through Boost first and then activate it on to their network this can be done at a Boost sales office or online through the website:http://www.boostmobile.com/. There is no activation fee to do this.

Thank you for the post. I completely understand wanting to cut down on expenses when you are in a bind. We can help you move your number to our prepaid service but, unfortunately, the phones you currently have will not work on the prepaid system. There are 5 phones that we offer for the prepaid service. I would like to look over your account to see what would be the best option for you if you wouldn't mind. If you could PM me your number and PIN or Security Question/Answer, I will look to see what we can do for you.

Re: switching from sprint to boost mobile and keeping same phones

went to a boost store and was told the same thing..it can be done, sprint has priced me out of their company and this was the last monthly payment as both my phones are now out of a contract with Sprint.  Long time customer with Sprint and was hoping to see a situation with the economy being as it is, where one's dedication to a company over the years would mean something...not just we understand as they slam the door on you as you walk out.  Like a bad marriage and the kids (phones) are held hostage.  Paying 2k over the last year for 2 phones... well it will not happen this year for sure.  I made sure my contracts were up so Sprint would not have the opportunity to abuse my credit.  Good bye!

So I would be able to transfer my Sprint phone to Boost? Is that correct?

shenitalong,

Thanks for the inquiry. That is not correct you cannot use a Sprint phone with any other carrier. Why do you want to switch carriers? Have you contacted Boost regarding this?

Re: switching from sprint to boost mobile and keeping same phones

Yes, you can. You would need to find a phone repair store or something to that effect for them to unlock it. I am very concerned about the information the Sprint Agents are giving. For sprint to allow you guys to tell customers this is illegal and false. You can unlock any phone, the determination on whether you can use it with a particular carrier depends on the type of cell service that carrier has. Boost and Sprint share the same cell service, therefore a Sprint phone will work with Boost service and vice versa. The programming on the phone itself is what has to be changed/unlocked so that when you use your phone it will accept the commands of your service provider. Shame on you all for lying to people.

Sprint has clarified after the initial press release that BYOSD cannot be used on Virgin Mobile or Boost, their press release did not note what carriers would allow it, a lot of blogs/sites assumed Virgin and Boost would like the one you have posted, but they were incorrect.

Here are some of the carriers you can take your Sprint device to;

Kajeet, Ting,ChitChat, EcoMobile and PrepaYd.
