Just activated a previously owned Samsung Instinct, when I try to make a call I get a recording that says "Account could not be validated'. Does anyone know what or why?

The message your getting is that we need to validate and reprogram your phone. If you will please call 8882114727 care for programming the phone and then you will be activated on the Sprint Network.
