Re: Getting a phone off craigslist

Yes, but before you even buy it get the esn number from the back of the phone and call sprint to make sure the esn is clear bc if it is not the phone is useless. Hope this helps!......Long time craigslist user!

WanknessHD,

Correct as long as the device is not on an account that has a unresolved balance or is not in our negative phone file for lost or stolen phones then you would be able to activate it on your account.

Here is a link to a free site where you can check out to see if the phone is okay before purchasing http://checkesnfree.com/ .

Thanks,

-Ron

Better off on Ebay,

Too many scamming people, stolen goods get dyluted off and sold on craigslist. Keep your eyes open and be very cautious when dealing with craigslist ads.

Do NOT rely on calling Sprint or checking with http://checkesnfree.com/. Why? Because the phone can be reported stolen or the account closed AFTER you check and BEFORE you activate.

Meet the seller at a store. Activate phone. Pay seller.

Good advice.  Its sad but true, there are people out there scamming in this manner.  It might be a small % but remember "Buyer Beware".
