Reactivating an old phone

Reactivating an old phone

I lost my phone about a month ago. I did not replace it right away because of pending charges made by the person who found my phone and decided to call out of the country with it before I could suspend service. The charges have finally been taken off but since I did not sign up for the insurance, I now need a now phone.

Luckily, I saved my old phone and would rather reactivateit than pay full price for a brand new phone. Does Sprint charge to reactivate old phones or will this be free since I already own it?

Re: Reactivating an old phone

There is no charge to activate your phone and you can do it your self by going to sprint.com and signing on to your account, On the overview page under My phone and Plan is a link to "Activate A New Phone"

You are also able to chat in to have the device activated, we are able to place the device on the account, place notes on the account that you are activating your old device due to the other phone being lost/stolen. Then we are able to provide you with the correct programming steps if they are needed, there is not a charge to activate the device online, if you are to take the device to a store there will an activation fee.

No, there are no activation fees at all ever for a device that you already own during a simple ESN swap.

Re: Reactivating an old phone

Hello,

I'm going to add my sister to our family plan and wanted to give her my old Sprint phone to use. I saw that I could do this online, but when I go into "My Sprint" I go to the link that says "I want to add a phone to share minutes". Then I click on "add a phone to this plan" but then it takes me to a page where I can buy a new phone - there is nothing about reactivating an old one. So how do we go about this online?

Thanks!

Re: Reactivating an old phone

Hi all. You can activate a phone, new or old, at http://www.sprint.com/activate.

If you already have a family plan, and just need to add another line of service, try http://www.sprint.com/addaline.

I can't verify this right now, but I think you may have to chat or call us (*2) to add ONLY a line of service...I'll check on that though.

Re: Reactivating an old phone

I don't think you can, I tried every option there and it wants you to purchase a new one to add. You could do the online chat from there to have it done or call *2.

Re: Reactivating an old phone

Hello!  When adding a new line to your current account the system will automatically generate a new number.  If the old number has already been canceled there is no way to have the number placed on the new line.  You may always chat in and speak when a specialist within the Add A Phone Department. Hope this helps!

Re: Reactivating an old phone

We just want to activate my old phone with a new number but don't see an option for that online? Is this something we will have to do via chat or is there a link and I'm just missing it?

Re: Reactivating an old phone

kriskc, You should just call in and have it added it. There is no option to add an old phone on to the account from sprint.com, Just if you buy a new one. It should only take a few mins to get it done.
